  1. Hey, Just got back from knocking a few doors and seeking permission. I knew of one piece of land that contained rabbits so i focus my search on the house nearby it. Took all the advice ive read here on the site and dressed smartly and was very polite. First door i knocked nearest to it had stables sheds and tractor etc so i knew these guys had land, but as i spoke to the owner he said "no we dont have any land". ...hmmmm was this a sign of things to come. He did however give me directions to the owner of the land i had my eye on. So i went to the house i was directed too and unfortunetly

  3. If someone says that you can't accomplish something, it is time to step over or around them.

  4. Thanks lads, regardless i was going to continue seeking permissions and my mate has said he'll keep an ear out for me with surrounding farmers. Its hard when your an absolute beginner such as myself.....not even a ferret to me name . He did say there was one farmer who disliked guns and dogs so he might ask him if he would consider ferreting but he just sounds like a grumpy aul fecker .
  5. Hey all. Spoke to a friend of mine regarding permission to ferret on his land, he's a beef farmer and one of the only landowners i know. He said it was no problem to come around anytime but also said he hadnt seen a rabbit in years, plenty of hares and foxes but no rabbits. He said locals say myxi cleared the area years ago. My query is, do areas usually recover and re populate after myxi and if so how long? Its my only sign of permission so im sort of devastated theres no rabbits but at the same time thinking well its a step on the ladder to maybe getting some more permission of other farme

  7. Once again, thanks for all the welcomes. Ive definetly came to the right place. Ive learned so much already since signing up just reading through content. I do have a question however and maybe its a stupid one but i cant seem to find the answer here or on google. I spotted a field that had very high steep(ish) sandy/grassy banks at the back end of the field. The cattle were fenced of from this area and the ground was very uneven as tho tractors or heavy machinery drove through it at 1 point long ago. Anyway, i took a stroll over to see if there were any signs of rabbit life (using the adv

  9. Thank you all very much for the great welcome and especially the very generous offers. Furritus, Id love to accept your offer but im going to try get "basics 101" learned before i commit to owning a ferret. I have the facilities and time to commit to owning and working ferrets my only concern at the moment is i have 2 young children, 10 and 4 and im afraid they might get biten. Now, dont get me wrong ive seen just as much friendly ferret videos as grumpy ones and coming from a family that bred Irish wolf hounds and boxers i know its down to the owners rearing of an animal that dictates its beh
  10. Hey all, I decided to sign up here because for the past few weeks ive been contemplating buying a ferret or two and working them. I had no interest until i stumbled across a video of ferreting and thought that would be a great past time or hobby. I am naturally an animal lover and to get results through a working relation with a ferret seems great. I havent rushed out and bought a pair of ferrets, i'd prefer to do all the research first. Hense why i signed up, ive read some great advise on here and seen others in a similar situation to my own. Also and maybe i stand to be corrected but t
