I would say she's not ready for the beating line until you have her 100% on game.
Many a good dog has being ruined taking it to a shoot to early.
I would suggest finding a rabbit pen in your area and work on her steadiness there

Hi
I joined NOBs as it also included insurance for when I am out beating. I also follow them on twitter and have seen a few ads for beating work.
The best way to get work is to ask,ask and ask again through contacting gun, gundog clubs etc which Is what I did along with looking on gunsonpegs.com.
I know beat on two shoots and through that got another offer today.
Thanks
Chris

Hi
I bought my ESS with no papers but lots of FTC history and he's coming on great.
I am big believer it's down to the handler as much as the dog/breed
Thanks

It's deff mentaly stimulation you need to keep a dog calm.
With regards to training to a beating and picking up standard my dogs fine at beating and flushing game however having problems with his delivery.
I would recommend a few gundog training lessons and google gundog trainers in the north east and give them a call. They will give you a clear training plan etc but any questions if I can help I will.
A working dog is a happy dog which results in a happy owner so give it time and patience and you and your Lab will get there
Good luck

Hi
I understand why people pay to shoot game I work on a shoot and we've discussed as part of our syndicate to offer vermin shooting g to members/friends in the closed season and thought this idea could work.
I understand how protective people are over their permission and like wise I would but land is getting less and less and to keep this sport alive and introduce the younger generation this would be ideal for air gunners.
I guess I am different than some folk and my views are just my own and not degrading to others.

Hi
I'm not matdog and yea bearinator was kind to take me out on his permission which I was thankful of however why say 'the people who can't get permission is the people you don't want'?
People need to pay to shoot pheaseant etc so why can't a airgun syndicate work?
Thanks

When you take him out is he just getting exercise as you he will need mentaly stimulated to keep him calm not just down to excercise.
Thanks

Why is everyone tarnishing people with the same brush. Saying it's to open to abuse if that's the case nothing would happen or business idea be a success. If people want to abuse something they aren't going to join a club first they will just do it.
Again think this is a good idea for people without permission to shoot and the correct people to make money.

Hi
My suggestion to make this work would be to base this like a driven shoot day;
Shoot captain per venue always on site when people shooting
Safety brief and boundaries discussed before shooting
Farmer/land owner to meet all members
Pass for all members to prove proof of permission
7 days notice required
The right to refuse and stop shooting at anytime
Cheers

Hi
I think this a great idea as I've just started shooting and found it difficult to get permission. I've got some now in Northumberland shooting crows, pigeons and rabbits as work on a game shoot however if people are willing to pay big money for Pheaseant shooting why not a smaller amount through a membership scheme for air rifle shooting.
Keep me posted

Hi
Have you tried any gundog trainers?
I've got a 1 yr old springer who was a typical springer to say the least however once I started training him and working him he calmed down loads. It sounds like your Lab needs to do what a lab is bred for and that is to work and with it been so hyper is most probs down to been bored hence its selective hearing as gets attention if it ignores you as appose to attention for a good retrieve etc,
Do you work your Lab etc.
Thanks

While your waiting for a proffesional trainer.Sit in the living room, treats in one hand, dummy in the other.Dog in front of you.Get the dog to hold the dummy and then exchange for a treat.Even if the dog has the dummy for one second in its mouth give it a treat.Just do a few mins everyday and work on duration.Don,t react or get cross in any way.Once you are both confident ,take the dog out side and keep him on a lead and do the same.See if he will walk by your side with the dummy in his mouth and always reward with food when he gives it to you. This will take about 2 weeks to get to this level.
Hi
That's great will get to work on this however have read not to use treats as the dog may give up on a retrieve opting to come back for the treat?

Thanks will do
