  2. What kind of price would your friend be expecting to pay for a fully trained Cocker, with full demo on live game of course ?. Regards.
  3. Don`t know what to make of that one "Cockersam" .Was the keeper a successful trainer of Spaniels ?.The majority of keepers on the estates that i have the pleasure of running dogs keep theirs in the kennel. But the rule of thumb i use with anything in life is that "you only get out what you put in" !! albeit the correct input !!!! Regards.
  4. Hi Sandabandit, Sorry for the slow response, been away with the dogs. What i would advise you to start with is divide your training week into individual disciplines,a training session with a ( trained / spaniel, for me would not last more than an hour ( excluding rabbit pen ).The reason for a separate daily discipline is so the dog can totally focus and absorb the session. ie quartering one day ( woodland/root vegetables/white grass / heather / ),steadiness another, water work (This brings all gundogs breeds alive !!),crossing ditches, retrieving through edges.Stop whistle, hand signals.no
  5. Dogs have to be taught how to follow a line,it ain`t rocket science !.squeeking could very possibly due to not suppressing the anxiety in an exciting situation from as soon as 8 weeks, also the same age goes for the need to encourage retrieving and clean delivery. Happy training. ( you only get out what you put in ) !
  6. As a trial-er of both Labs and Spaniels with out doubt Cockers or my trained cockers are totally fearless.I really cannot stress too much the fact they have hearts the size of a lions. As with all dogs training is the secret and the quality of it ( live game for example ).SPRINGERS HUNT FOR SCENT - COCKERS HUNT OR BECOME MORE STYLISH WHEN SCENT IS EVIDENT.Pray drive needs to be encouraged and can be achieved with out ( live game ).on the same ground time and time again if the correct methods are applied. But with all dog training EVERY TYPE OF GROUND AND SCENARIO NEEDS TO BE COVERED. CHEERS.

  12. I`m paying approx 40p a kilo depending on the price on the day !! chicken prices vary just like everything else today !!. The ammount of carcasses per box varies depending on how much meat is left on. Cheers.
  13. Yeah bigthug, i get my carcasses from a major poultry processor in Penrith which is getting a wee tad expensive. The lamb i get off a pal for free, but have to do a 40 mile all round trip, but it`s` great in winter for keeping the weight on dogs. Spookster it looks abit pricey the place at Durham for feeding my pack of dogs especially by the time the diesel`s gone in the wagon. I can tell you i`ve been on the verge of starting to feed the dry food crap again !!!!!!!! but could`nt stand the quantity of crap that comes out the other end and the smell !! Plus the water bill will go sky high with

  20. Well dropped in at Altbergs yesterday and a very interesting hour i had in the shop, started off have my feet professionally measured finding out i have a half size difference in my feet and also require wide fitting ( i knew this already ).Tried on the GK Highmoor,a nice looking comfy boot, but while explaining that my Diotto by Black Islander had leaked in after 2 years, but also that i liked the scratch resistant surface !The cobbler then appeared with some scratch resistant GK Highmoors.( these are very similiar to the Diotto boot ).Tried the boots on,discussed all recommendations and made th
  21. Cheers for that Reddawn, did`nt think of doing that.
  22. There must be something to be said about being able to return boots or any other faulty goods back to the shop you purchased them in person. So Altbergs would be the wise choice as i pass them every week, but if they are that good i would`nt need to bother. Which boot would people reccomend for the moors from the Altberg range. Cheers Kev.
  23. JohnC I must have duff pair or do to much in them.
  24. Yeah Weasle i liked mine when they first came out many years ago,i thnk we all have to be careful now what we buy.I dont think Mouflon plus are what they used to be.Another example is the green stanley flask and bait box set.Mine many years ago was made in Nashville and stays ( hot ).the one`s today are made in China and are regularly returned ( cold ).
  25. Thanks everybody for all reply`s and info, One thing i don`t bang on about when i buy a new product is " That they are the bollocks " from the word go ! So when the lads at the shoot and the gundog training lads asked me a couple of years ago my opinion i said " ask me in a couple of years " I THINK I HAVE NOW ANSWERED THAT QUESTION ! If i did It`s like telling some body your dogs single handed on fox, when it is`nt or your spaniel sits on flush, when it does`nt or your Lab`s steady, when it run`s in. Things alway`s come out in the wash. The thinsulite linining ( diotto boots ) is a good p
