  1. I wouldn't want any of your kits as I don't think they would be very good at rabbiting. They wouldn't have the aggressive streak neccessary to make a rabbit bolt.
  2. Thanks guys. The run at present is only about 19ft by 13ft but we are building them a bigger one which is just over 50 ft x 20ft. We could net off the smaller run but not the bigger run.
  3. We are plagued by Jackadaws (that's what my 4 year old son calls them) eating our chickens food in our garden. We have an open run and the daws spend all day dropping in and stealing the food. They sit on the cross bars and then drop in. Now, I have sat behind the compost heap and shot a few with the .410 but I can't keep up and need a better solution. I can get hold of a larsen from our keeper but would they use it when they have an ample supply of food available in the chicken run? Should I get the larsen, and cover the chicken run with a temporary cover of wire while we do s
  4. Good news. Thought this place might help you out a bit. For those who are irresponsible, I do hope you have a stern word with people dumping unwanted ferts on you. They need to be told that their actions are wrong and they should have more respect for the animal’s welfare. Obviously there must be situations where people have to give them up agaisnt their wishes, but people breeding them with no homes organised or no intention of sorting home sout should be neutered (the owners and the ferts). /Mad
  5. We have stumbled upon two fields like that, and these are really covered in rabbits. When you arrive at the gate it looks like the field is moving as all the rabbits run to the hedges, liquid brown. We counted a section of them and then multiplied this up for the two fields and worked out there must be in excess of 300 rabbits there, I joke you not. So many, we spent a lot of the time just saying f*ck and variations on this. No wonder the local residents were complaning about the damage to their garden plants. We sat and shot them with the .22 for a while and they were completely obli
  6. I would use in order of preference: 1) Angle Grinder (noisy but quick and the kids love to watch the sparks) 2) Hacksaw, quiet but slow. /Mad
  7. fook it, Going to have to start again! Seriously though, that Court is the business, any animal that lives in there is going to be one happy and healthy critter. /Mad
  8. Almost good enough to live in.... I'm painting it so that it is hygenic and easy to wash/wipe down. /Mad
  9. Finally got the last section of floor laid and the wire on the front and it is starting to actually look like an animal cage now rather than a mess and how it looked before: kits are 3 weeks old so still have time to sand & seal and treat the wood, then build shelves and nesting boxes and fill with play things before they arrive. I hope. This whole shed is for 2 kits so hope they have plenty of space. /mad
  10. Speak to either Karen or Mark at The Ferret Box Company. Email: timber.products12@btinternet.com Phone: 07900 096 358 /Mad
  11. Reply from Karen at Timber Products with regards to the ferret boxes Artemis & I purchased. I mentioned that mine required a little extra sanding (not much) and that Artemis had problems with the catches on hers. Good customer service. /Mad Hi, I am glad that your box arrived, i am sorry that you had to do a little sanding before treatment, if the box was to be treated by ourselves we always place a coat on and then give a final sand and treat several times more but as these were un-treated boxes we are not able to do that, i hope that you are still happy through.
  12. Running total is: 151 hobs 131 jills
  13. What a cracking picture... A Dad and his Son. Look at the smile on his face! /Mad
  14. That explains why mine had a business card for a plumber stuck to the inside lid. /mad
  15. It does have a bow back. The company were selling 3 boxes on Ebay left over from a game fair. The strap comes off with a bolt and is easy to adjust and has a click together part to it when you get wrapped up in barbed wire. And yes, you guessed it, I bought one of them! /Mad
  16. Jeez, I thought I was the only mad one doing the heavy construction with my concrete floor. You have taken it one step further, like it! Would quite like to incorporate this into my outdoor run which I may build at the end of the year, kinda Phase II. /mad
  17. Luckily for us/the ferrets, the court is under a huge and very old oak tree. So in the summer it is shaded by the leaves and in winter when it is cooler and darker, it will get more light. Good old mother nature. /Mad
  18. Hire a Pehen costume and entice it with some suitable strutting and dancing. As soon as he gets close enough to do any damage/embarrassment grab im. /mad
  19. Each person replying should keep a running total. That is 60 hobs to 35 jills so far
  20. Has been very exciting and am enjoying every moment. But, it has been planned from conception to completion and I know exactly what I am doing at every stage. I suppose that is my nature, I am a systems/storage manager in IT and everything has to be planned or you are stuffed! My next door neighbour is the herdsman for the estate we live on, he is bringing round some AG pipe on his tractor next week. He also dropped off a tonne of road plannings and another tonne of sand for the concrete base. So not only was it free, it is also recycled as it is old road surface. Once the
  21. I have been told that I am spending more time and effort on the soon to arrive ferrets than I did for our children. What does this say about me? /mad
  22. Marie, best to remove your number and PM it to people who ask. As you say, the members of this forum are all a bit dodgy. /Mad
  23. @blando, that is a ferret amusement park you have there... superb! Do they use the wheel a lot? sounds like a good idea but before I got the jigsaw out I would want to know how much use they get out of it. /Mad
  24. Or... buy some 11mm OSB2 board (£10.45 for a 2.4 x 1.2m) and shutter off the inside. http://www.wickes.co.uk/icat/smosb /Mad
