  1. These are well used warrens crawling in bunnies. /Mad
  2. Have worked my ferts a couple of times now and they don't seem to work the bury properly. Yesterday they spent more time wandering off into the undergrowth than underground. When they are underground they bolt very few bunnies (one yesterday) and spend their time popping out of a hole, looking cute then diving down another one. Would my best bet to go with someone else who has experienced ferts so they can show mine how to work properly. Kind of like a ferret tutor, or just let them work it out for themselves? thanks, /Mad
  3. Shredded paper for their nest, get this from work. Straw for the floor of the court, get this from the farm. and for the litter trays I use this funny stuff from the farm, it is recycled paper ground down, grey in colour and they bought it for the cows but found it wasn't too great and therefore have about two tonnes sitting going spare. Ideal! /Mad
  4. OOOh, I like them. Have you got more pictures? /mad
  5. Firstly let me say how sorry I am for your loss. I have become very attached to my crew in a short space of time and know how much they can mean. On a similar vein to the Spider story.... we were waiting for our train to London and then up to Edinburgh to see family & friends. Our station is a rural one and we were the only people there. With 1o minutes before our train was due, a bloke on the other platform shouted over that he had been stung on the head and didn't feel very well. He then started to look a little unsteady and less than 30 seconds later he collapsed, puked
  6. Didn't take you long did it mate! Check your email for a copy of the edited Parish magazine article. I'm sending it now. /mad
  7. :welcomeani: Hi neighbour. Glad you finally joined the forum. Captain Chaos is a good farmer, fisherman and frend, but a shit shot at the clays /Mad
  8. Pleased that ye enjoyed yeself mate. And that the ferrets did what ferrets do tend to do. In time ~ and with experiance ~ ye'll realise how that grin transforms to a deady serious look of alert concentration. Only, in your case, probably focused on that f*cking box. D.S. I think my post didn't come over to well. The box stayed in the bag until we hadn't seen the ferts for about 40 minutes. I then used it to: a) Use it for the first time (apart from testing in my back garden) See where they were as this was my first time ever and while I wasn't worried, I was interested
  9. Went out today with two of my ferts, Cornelius the Hob and Ophelia the Jill. It was their and my first time ever. Started off by wrestling with them trying to get the collars on and then left them in their outdoor run with some food to get used to the collars. They were so unfazed by them though which was good to see. Next I put in their carry box so they could have a play around with that and then after a cup of tea, we set off with my daughter and our neighbour with his .410 I chose a bury that I knew was empty and put them in one at a time after triple checking the collars a
  10. That is most excellent. Lucky ferrets. /Mad
  11. Since getting our ferrets our pet rabbit has become awfully polite. Almost seems to doff his cap as I walk past. /Mad
  12. location location location Anything that looks so sick and diseased as a Town Feral can not be good to eat. Think of all those MacDonalds it has eaten, shit off the city streets etc, they make me sick just looking at them, esp with their diseased and f****d up claws. Stubby, if you can make a trip down to near Dorking you can come out on my permission and go home with a freezer full. Failing that why don't you go to www.ferret.com and buy them some of that most excellent Tofu and Beansprout Ferret Food they have on sale there. /Mad
  13. 8th and 10th of June Stubby. They are really growing now. /Mad
  14. Disagree, neutering will have no effect on it's ability to work. No other animal suddenly becomes a pet just because it had the op. /Mad
  15. Makes no difference at all. I got the snip years ago and it hasn't affected the way I work. /Mad
  16. As said before, prevention is better than cure. I sited the Court under a very old and large Oak tree. In the summer it is lovely and cool, in the winter the leaves have dropped and they get more light. Gotta love nature! /Mad
  17. Straw. Pop up to the farm, shoot a few wabbits, look at the lovely new calves just born, fill the car with straw (in bags otherwise er indoors gets stroppy) and back home again. Cost... zero (apart from the 15 odd cartridges required to shoot a rabbit or two ) /Mad
  18. The problem with this is the power issue. For the transmitter embedded under the skin to give off enough signal to be read from anything over a few inches it would need a decent sized battery, ans this would mean inserting a battery up yer ferrets bum (if we are keeping it all internal) your ferret is hardly likely to want to come back to you after that! /Mad
  19. I got mine a crackle sack and they love it. High up the must have list I would say. It is the only way I can clean their court out as it keeps them amused for ages. Where did I get it I hear you ask???? Our food from tesco came in it and we call it a carrier bag. /Mad
  20. I'm very interested, looking at trading mine in and getting something a little bit more sporty. /Mad
  21. Don't have one but would like to get one to compliment the electronic box of tricks. Not keen on slicing my ferrets in half and would prefer to use the probe to make sure I am in the right area. /Mad
  22. thanks, but no luck! I have now revoked all access to the Skyway as I was getting sick of cleaning up. I just had to remove one ramp and that is all. I will put it back in when i go to play with them. That will a) give them something new to do when I am there, keeping everything fresh and exciting and keep it clean and poo free. Boy this is all a learning experience! /Mad
  23. If only mine read the rules. They get out of bed, down a ramp to the first shelf, then halfway up a ramp to the pipe entrance. They then go up the pipe to the next shelf, then through another section and then do a shit. What I may do though is, as you suggest, have a pipe going from the nesting box straight to the litter tray and move the entrance to the Skyway further away. Or, I have some 4mm marine ply which I may steam into shape to make curves so there are no corners on the shelves. Tell you what though, if I was to start all over again I would build a circular Court. T
  24. Hi Tom, Good to see you here. :welcomeani: Your kits are doing well, still haven't got a name for the jill, it will come. /Mad
  25. Thanks for the sensible (and not so sensible replies) guys! Here are some pics of the Skyway aww so cute Rabbits eye view looking towards the main 'junction' I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the 'Skyway', Will do tomorrow /Mad
