Remember the litter of lurchers we bred 16 months ago out of our collie greyhound Atol to an old fashioned Norfolk type... lost most of the litter within the first week, to Canine Herpes virus. Steep learning curve for not only us, but also people we talked to about it. 3 pups survived. A bitch called Ruby who is with a mate of ours, no recent picture, this was when she was 12 months old. The other pups, a bitch called Reeba we kept, and a dog called Harley a good friend of ours, Matt, took. Now Matt has been out the odd time for a mooch with us and our lot, but since harley has

Great to see him doing so well. A credit to you and the hard work you've put in to him. Well done! Shell -

I noticed that in the pictures skycat... his eyes look a lot happier now. In that first picture poor lad looks likes he's given up. He's getting some shine back now isn't he. Shell

All my lot, terriers and lurchers) love eating berries. Recently been picking a lot of bilberries to make Bilberry vodka and the dogs were picking their own and eating them. One of our old terriers loved gooseberries, and once sat in the back garden under a goosegog bush and ate as many as she could reach. She was so fat after that, all she could do was lay there whining. She didn't learn though and was back out the next day looking for more. Atol, the old lurcher, loves raspberries, but eats them so gently that she leaves the inner cone attached to the plant. Funny though, as they wo

Picture of my collie greyhounds. Mother is the big red merle bitch, stands 26.5 inch to the shoulder, saluki greyhound x collie greyhound cross 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie (yep, does carry some hancock breeding), daughter is the blue merle rough coated bitch, 26 inch to the shoulder, (mother mated to a big rough coated deerhound collie greyhound type, not seen any collie / deerhound / greyhound for 40 odd years - just a nice bred type). Not world beaters, but run 3 - 4 days a week and catch plenty. malc and shell

Can anybody help? I'm still using the ferret box that I made in GCSE woodwork, back in the late 's. It's not a bad thing, fits 2 jills just about, but would like to make myself a bow back. Has anybody got any plans for one? Not planning on knocking loads out, just wanting to make one for msyelf. cheers, Malc

My most prized possessions.... to sum it up... my photo albums. If I lost my photos I'd be gutted. Because they show my life and everything I've done. They show my most prized moments... Most of them shared with Malc (my hubby)... my first dig to fox, my first time ratting and minking, buying my first house, , the best stag and hen night ever, getting married, having my daughter, her growing up, daughter experiencing her first time seeing the lurchers course, the pack go ratting, do fox, etc, and all the animals that have shared the journey on the way... dogs, sheep, ferrets, chickens.

Hiya bigmal I'd certainly meet up with you and take you down into north lincs when we next go down, but it depends on the crops/vegetation dying down at the end of the year. If you just wanted a mooching day out, and your dog is well broken to stock, if you were willing to travel over here I'd take you out on some of my permission, mostly rabbit, and whatever else comes up during the day. We're near Skipton. As for people decrying you for hunting rabbit... most of these people on BTW will say you shouldn't work them to rabbit as when you enter them to ground to fox, they will more tha

bigmal - reply from another mal (my husband)... had borders since i was about 11, in west yorkshire as opposed to east. Don't believe this shite that marko is passing onto you that borders are slow and don't try to rats until they are 10-12 months. I take my pups out with the adults from the day they have had their jabs, if they get too tired I slip them in the game bag. Borders are put down as being slow to enter because half of the people are too frightened to do anything with them as they cost £400. No dog ever learnt anything by being left at home in kennels until it was 12 months old.

Marriage and relationships... it's all about compromise isn't it... Malc (been together for nearly 11 yrs, married nearly 6 yrs) came home with a present for me one day. 2 PET leeches in a glass jar. LEECHES???!!! WTF?! Found them while digging a ditch... He's obsessed with the countryside and thought I might appreciate them. Fine. Ok. You've brought me 2 pet leaches... then he tries to place the glass jar on the mantle piece in the living room... 'they look nice there'. Hang on a minute... pet leeches.. mantle piece... living room. F*CK RIGHT OFF! Horrid things. I put up with

I've got carpel tunnel too. Had the operation on both wrists... one hand is tonnes better, the other was no better really, so I have cortizone injections in that one every few months and it's pretty much fine. shell

I suppose I'm a newby to working dogs etc. I was born in 1980... always had a dog at home when I was growing up... a mongrel called Nushka (we're Ukrainian), who I'll never forget, lived to be 16! The dog that was always there! And then a white collie with a black head called Bilka (which means white), which once chased a rabbit!!! My grandad used to tell tales of rearing rabbits in the back garden purely for the pot in Ukraine, then also in Manchester when they came here in the 50's. I got involved in field sports when I met my hubby in 1997. So still got a hell of a lot to learn co

Oh my god... that is not far from me now. Wasn't in the weekly Keighley News either. Well I didn't see it. Fukin bastrds. Honestly, I don't fukin get it. I know it happens... but jeez, on your doorstep pretty much. Wish I hadn't of known that or read it, whatever. I'm shocked. We walk our dogs near that area on a big circuit we do... Shell
