  1. Just how a litter of pups should look! A credit to you - healthy and happy pups! They are lovely! Shell
  2. They're smart! She's solid isn't she!!! Both a bonny pair though! Our pups ears are slowly starting to prick... they're at half mast at the moment. Go back when she's happy to see you when you come home from being out. Once she's changed her teeth it will be interesting to see what happens with them! Shell

    HIPPYCHICK!!!

    Happy Birthday Molly! shell
  4. Nice dogs! Look like they'd be able to cope with the country we hunt. Not after out and out speed machines, just something durable. Thanks for showing us! Shell
  5. It's like magic! Sorted thanks Ian! That'll save Malc 10 minutes every time he logs on!!! Shell
  6. Yeah it's since then Mikethedog! Only happens on here, not on any others! Shell
  7. Hiya all, I've recently started having a bit of bother logging in to this website. It no longer remembers my name and password (not so much a problem for me, but it takes Malc ages to type and it's frustrating him!!! ). Other forums remember my name/password when I select 'remember me', but this one doesn't. Is it something to do with cookies? How do I rectify it? I want it to remember me when I ask it to! Thanks in advance! Shell and Malc
  8. Thanks guys. We're hoping the compromise will do us nicely! malcs got his whippet type and his kelpie cross!!! Fireman - be interested in hearing how your acd cross turns out. Shell
  9. Hiya all, Malcs always fancied a straight whippet, but has been a bit wary of running a straight whippet on the ground we work. It's been a case of wait and see if anything suitable comes up. On the other hand Malcs always been after a Kelpie cross lurcher... we had one provsionally ordered years ago but then I found out I was pregnant with Nim and we decided we better cancel the order. Can you see where this is going?!!! Before we lost Atol the other week we'd made arrangements to go and look at a new addition to the household. A 3/4 whippet 1/4 kelpie (Malc was happy as a pig
  10. When I was born mum and dad had a mongrel called 'Noushka'... (Ukrainian name!)... she was a Lassie type collie cross, and lived till she was 16. The we had a white (with black head) Border Collie called 'Bilka' (Uki for white)... boy was she wapped in the head! Hard work!!! She lived to be 15 and had to be put to sleep the other year. Got a cat when at mums with Bilka, mum and dad still have her, she's called 'Chuch'! Had a rabbit as a kid also, called 'Petrushka', she lived for donkeys as well!!! Think she was about 14! Went on to have the terriers and lurchers and ferrets etc when I met
  11. Sorry to hear of your loss. Lost a good one myself the other week... she was no world beater either, but put her heart and soul into everything. RIP Billy Shell
  12. When we moved into hunt service we were told not to shout at the hounds when they were singing because it meant they were happy. Our terriers sing everyday when we land home if we've been out. I love the sound of them singing! Shell
  13. It will won't it! Hopefully she'll do us nicely! Shell
  14. Thats an intersting point... I can't say as I'd thought of it that way... makes sense I suppose! I suppose we were used to running big Atol, who had various tumbles and falls and bangs and came through everything (until the last one), built like a brick shithouse, and we'd always said she withstood everything because of her structure. This pup has been quite a compromise for Malc... he's always wanted a Kelpie x lurcher, and he's always wanted a whippet!!! Shell
  15. My hubby has been on about a whippet for ages... the main concern we had was regarding the land we hunted, and whether a straight whippet would be able to cope with the terrain (a lot of rough and uneven land around yorkshire and the dales). We lost a pup at 11 months when she crashed into something and smashed her back leg up, she was a old fashioned rough coated lurcher, but was relatively weak boned. Had a big collie greyhound that was built like a brick outhouse and had various knocks and bangs that a whippet wouldn't have survived. We've just bought our compromise pup... it's 3/4
  16. RIP Jasper. Never an easy decision to have to make. Chin up. Shell
  17. Thank you so much... Overwhelmed by all your comments. Thank you. Don't know what to say! The blue merle is Atols daughter. Mated to an old fashioned Norfolk type lurcher, rough coated big dog. So chuffed we bred from her. Lovely words Shamus... thank you. Shell x
  18. Thank you! The big lump did mean a lot to us Marko... certainly was one of a kind! Thanks again guys, shell
  19. Thank you everyone for the kind words. We'd already arranged previously to go and look at a litter of pups this weekend... I know no dog could ever replace Atol, but hopefully the pup will be right for us and will help us move on onto the next chapter. Thank you guys, Shell x
  20. Thanks for the replies everyone... mean a lot. Shell
  21. I don't know what to say, don't know how to feel... We've just had to have Atol put to sleep... She'd have been 9 in the New Year. She'd given us 9 fantastic years... pain and pleasure... Malc was out ferreting with her and the others this morning... don't know the ins and outs of what happened, Malcs told me, but I couldn't tell you. She came back holding her back leg up, thought her broken toe was bothering her. He went back to the car, came home. Gave her some anti-inflammatorys, but she was right in herself, ate her tea etc, but not bearing any weight on her back leg, just dangling
  22. Other than the 3 Borders and 2 lurchers, hubby and daughter... we've got... 5 hens... and assortment of types but include 'Betty' the light sussex who we've had for a few years and liked to sit on the sofa in the living room when we lived at kennels, we called her the house hen. even now we're in suburbia if we leave the back gate open she's onto the drive trying to get into the house. and... Half a dozen ferrets. When we were at kennels we had 2 sheep called Norman and Stanley... they are now in the freezer. Neamh (now 3 and a half) will only eat lamb if its 'Norma Danly from ee
