  4. I started by sending an email to all the farms, stables, and small holdings around the surrey area, the email started with a description of myself, and the type of service i could provide to them. I listed all the quarry that i would be willing to erradicate, and the problems they cause for local landowners, Then i copied and pasted a copy of my permission, and gave details of my BASC membership and insurance. As a result i gained 6 perms out of 17 emails sent, that was 4 yrs ago and now i have a team of 4 very good friends and myself that have got permanent shoots, and still get the occas
  5. Not so much keen, a couple of hours each late evening when they're out, and the rest of my weekend rabbiting and woodies for the pot. plus it'll get me away from the nagging at home.
  6. 10am yesterday i got a phone call from a friend of a friend, who works on a farm in rural surrey. Result was would i be prepared to go and clear the farm of rats? You can guess my answer, well i went down to view the area of concern, and wow more rats than the human population of surrey, they are everywhere, i wish i had taken my rifle. Trouble is the farm will not allow me to shoot between 9am and 6.30pm because its open to the public, so the only time i can go is nights, not a problem as thats the best time anyway, I made a second visit last night this time with my BSA R10 and lamping gea

  8. WE GOT THE B******S now in the hands of the law, caught without permission to be on the land. All 3 of them admitted guilt and from the local area.
  9. Hi all, i've just recieved my application form, and one of the questions on it is, what club or organization do you belong too? as i dont belong to any local gun club, i was wondering if the BASC OR BASA count? as i'm a member of both.
  10. You can use snares for fox, but they must have 'stops' so they hold the animal and not strangle it. The fox was strangled alright, so much so that the snare had cut through part of the neck, also, there are no gamekeepers on site, nor is there anyone else with a permission to shoot, and on top of it all the neighboring farmer is now fuming because he has found snares on his land too, and has said no-one has the right to snare or shoot on his land, as its not a working farm but private land.
  11. I agree with that they might be cute but still vermin and need controlling not nice but someone obviously wants them gone Right firstly its a small petting farm, (ie) like a large inner city zoo, and 45 acres in size, but out in the sticks if you know what i meen. the owners have all the shooting rights, and i'm the only person with a permission to shoot rabbits, corvids, and vermin using an air rifle, the owners son and one other takes care of the foxes with shot guns. Why there was a snare on the grounds no-one knows, but the police have been informed, and will watch the area.
  12. This is what i thought, but if you take the urban foxes around here, we have had cubs as late as september, and on one occasion there was a litter born on september 28th and thats documented in our local free paper with photo's. In my area there is way two many urban foxes.
  13. Out on my permission last night, i came accross a snared fox lying dead against a hedge, i took the snare and put it in my bag to show the land owner, and left the fox alone, any way two rabbits later along the same hedge, i heard some weard noise i hav'nt heard before, and looking for it i came across 3 very young fox cubs alone in a shallow hole about 2ft deep x 2ft wide, under an old oak, i know the dead fox was a vixen, so could these be her cubs? they looked so cute, but obviously starving, i chucked in a rabbit and left them. If this is poachers on my permission, should i call the po

  15. Hi, been following this site for awhile now, so i thought it was about time i joined and said hello. I'm a 50yr old air gun hunter, and have been shooting for just over 30 yrs, starting off with my 1966 cadet major in .177, and now using a BSA R10 .22. I have gained some knowledge since veiwing this site, and no doubt i will gain more over time. All the best Gary.
