  1. You jumped into a conversation regarding terriers rounding up quarry. None of us have X-ray eyes but you must have a special skill to know that a terrier isn’t barking through its grip at the one at hand but the one behind it. Maybe you should judge strong dogs in the next big show coming up. You’d be in your comfort zone, bullshit.
  2. I know there’s no specific blueprint for what goes on underground but, hypothetically speaking if a terrier enters and gets on and there’s 2 animals in front of it and the dog gives chase around the burra. After a while one turns left up a few feet into an end and the other went on around the way they had been going from the beginning. Terrier A would go left and stay at that one until dug too. Terrier B works it for a minute knows there’s another has got away so turns back to pursue it around the burra and after a while that animal decides to take the same left and terrier B is dug
  3. Is that not just a simple case of a terrier barking through its grip! How could you determine which fox it was barking at lol
  4. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion mate. I get where your coming from and I agree with you on what your saying. Suppose sometimes seeing is believing, none of the lads that were present would be in anyway wet behind the ears when it comes to terriers. The bitch in question was as good a bitch any man would want to grace their yard.
  5. I understand what your saying mate. Surely though it’s not walkabout if everytime they’re leaving a spot they’re getting on again in another part of the place only to work it to the original spot where the dog had settled at the beginning, then this on repeat. Then settle and that’s the result
  6. The men in the field that day myself included and the way the hunt was going all believed the bitch to be rounding them up. Once she’d settled long enough and was dug too that was the result.
  7. Seen a young bitch do that one day. Got on and went to the end of the bank, only to run back into different parts and return to the same end another 3 times. We dug her with 4. A great bitch she turned out to be. Unlucky terriers? Unlucky isn’t when you’ve a good one! Its losing the likes and nothing out of it or anything to replace it.
  8. Are you talking about the door at the rear of the trap that you would use to put bait in or take the dead rat out?
  9. That one was average, I caught one twice the size of it a few months back in the same garden. I thought most them cages came as standard? Its shy of 8” in height. 17” long and 9” wide.
  10. Surprised me today when I checked two traps I had set was one in each of them, maybe not that bad after all lol
  11. This one is a counterbalanced trap, I’d firmly say it’s the worst trap I’ve ever owned. I’m sure you are
  12. Similar type trap? Not the same then. No comb needed. I can catch them the best, dispatch accordingly. This trap I’ve had no results on, hence the thread. Atb
  13. Have you had any success with them at all? No hassle at all i enjoy it.
  14. Has anyone any experience in this type of rat trap? I’ve been catching rats regularly in the neighbours gardens for a few years now. My other 2 cage traps are old as the hills, rectangle elevated door plate activated standard traps. I catch in them all the time. Never had any success in this trap at all. Don’t think it’s up to much and a very bad design, I get the impression that they would be able to get out of it easily if you could get one to enter it to begin with that is lol. Just looking to know if anyone has any insight on the matter, cheers
  15. Even the Bayers that know how to mix it up when needed end up getting laid up at times when everything isn’t going smooth and they have to go through the gears
  16. Think most do have a soft spot for a wheaten terrier. I don’t own any, yet I have the privilege to see the odd one work occasionally. Not as regular though as times past. The wheatens that a few lads i know, the majority of the breeding in them came from the Northern owners down the years. Before anyone jumps on me for that statement, it’s not to cause offence to anyone it’s only an observation from what I’ve seen. Yet tbh these dogs where bred by southern lads that have kept the lines going, the majority of the pedigrees is from wheatens that where from the north. Suppose going back as
  17. Barrie I think you’ll find I wasn’t the one mentioned your Full name in a post! if you would have looked back you would have seen who mentioned your full name. Either way it’s on the www. anyway as your president of your organisation for anyone to see and god knows where else. That’s your choice not mine. The IWTF representative I was only speaking about and not the entire organisation and the NWFT was only put in as it was being mentioned also beforehand not by me either. It was solely to give an example of groups that should be glad of support. If it came across that way I do apologise but i
  18. I’m wasn’t castigating any organisation I was pointing out the fact that organisations such as them for example you would think would want like minded folk to join so we can all be as one. Not turn them away. So don’t twist my words Barry.
  19. Thats fair enough Barrie. But imo an organisation like the nwtf or the iwtf should be welcoming and glad that like minded folk want to join. Not have some halfwit telling them what you should do what you can’t etc. He can’t even be honest! If that’s the case and that g@bshite is what is representing us, then it’s well and truly fked. I’ll leave it at that atb.
  20. Stop talking nonsense. The first ever meeting the IWTF held, myself, yourself, two other lads and BW attended. You caught up with a few other lads later on when everyone had bounced. Any alcohol or other I certainly wasn’t involved in. A working terrier federation is one thing. I attended for all the right reasons. Most didn’t! I know a lot of people that are involved in terrier work. That stems from lads that bush with terriers, lads that dig and they are all different. Yet we all work terriers! We should all be as one! Yet, correspondence after between myself and you Stope
  21. Fully accept your point and I totally agree with you. So why should our own turn on each other is my main concern. ATB
