  1.  Spot on. My pup has been coming out with me and my other two dogs since she was fully jagged (about 12 weeks of age). She's been ferreting, watched the other dogs catch, mark etc. Now I know she is not going to catch anything yet (shes only 5 months) but everyday she learns something new. I've used this method for 30+ years and it hasn't gone wrong yet.
  2. Kay, I've had two ex track dogs over the years and they are great dogs. I would be very surprised if he did not try to kill your cats though at first - follow Woko's advice and you should stop it. Mine would ignore my cat and even tolerate it lying next to her BUT she accounted for many feral cats she came across. You should aim to let her off the lead eventually it's not that much fun for them if they can't burn off some energy, you'll probably find recall will be slow at first but they adapt quickly. Also IMHO I would not crate all the time except for food and walks. You want him to
  3. Was it from here? http://www.northerntooluk.com/products.asp?partno=15825E
  4. where could i get one of those micers ???????????????????????how much Where did you get the mincer ? It looks more substantial than the other one in the link ie you can bolt it to a work surface.
  5. Cheers Brigg, I'm well pleased with her. She seems a natural retriever as well and quite fearless, my spaniel carried back a myxy rabbit last weekend and I let her play with it she shook it and then carried it around for 20 minutes. Her only bad point - she is always hanging of my spaniels ears!
  6. Just a couple of pics of my pup that I got of Brigg from the forum, . Line bred collie greyhound. here she is at 6 weeks And here she is at 15 weeks.
  7. My best ferreting dog I had was a whippet x springer spaniel. 100% at marking, never touched the nets, but caught those that slipped the net. What set her apart though was that she would mark layed up ferrets and 'paw' the ground directly over them, she was rarely wrong. Sadly that was 25 + years ago and it's like a lot of things you only realise what you have got until they are gone.
  8. Tried this with a can of Guinness :tongue2:
  9. Ok that's enough I was in a good mood
  10. True very true, from a 44 year old knackered Sighthound who still aches from felling and clearing trees yesterday
  11. If you are serious about getting into pest control then training is a must have requirement. The course you mentioned is a good one but there are others available. Most pest control suppliers will not trade with you unless you can prove you have had adequate training to be able to use certain chemicals. Also take into consideration your Insurance requirements as well (public liability) as this is not cheap either. Rolfey. Thanks Rolfe.
  12. I'm a landscape gardener but through word of mouth etc I'm getting more and more pest control work. Mainly rabbits, moles etc. I'm thinking of moving it up a gear and was considering doing this course, BPCA/RSPH (Level 2) Certificate in Pest Control. Is it worth it? It's quite pricey £985 +vat And does it give you your tickets for the use of chemicals, baits etc.
  13. I think that is probably the solution. Another site I go on does this, not much but the cost goes towards the upkeep of the site.
  14. Ditch, I've been a member on here since June 05 and i've posted 30 times. I like reading posts but can't be arsed to post much of the time, so many people on here know so much anyway I'd be pissed off if I had a litter and couldn't post them on here unlike some prick who says hello to everyone who comes on as a new member.
  15. dont' do that you'll regret it.
  16. Tell us more about 216 receivers please why will there be more up for sale this year ? as I to am looking for a telemetry thanks N/S Hi the jury is still out on this one. The 216 frequency is to be used by dab broadcasting (Digital TV/radio) later in 2008. Some say it will not effect the receiver others that there will be too much interference. I suppose either time or your location will tell. Try this link for a further explanation. http://$%^&*&^%$£$%^&*(/showthread.php?t=39050 Also it is illegal to transmit using the 216 frequency
  17. You will find alot of 216 receivers for sale this year read up on it

  19. What about Scone Palace? One of the biggest game fairs in the Uk. Heres a link giving 2008's dates. http://www.scottishfair.com/ Regards
  20. Just got one of these pups. A cracking litter and was obvious these pups want for nothing, well raised and a credit to the breeder.
  21. Have to say I think it's the best time to get a pup. By the time they are ready for walking etc the nights are longer and when they are in the pain in the arse stage it is summer .
  22. I just bought a lurcher of Brigg on this forum. Cracking pups well raised and a credit to him. The breeding is on this link. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...mp;#entry349975
  23. Glad you got your dog back. IMHO once two bitches fight you are in for trouble for along time to come. I had a terrier and whippet that had been together since pups, they were fine until they were about three years old. One day with no warning a major fight, seperated them everything fine for a few weeks then kicked off again, and again. With dogs you will find one will usually back down and in the future remain submissive to the dominant dog but bitches will often fight to the death unless seperated. In the end I had to rehome the terrier because it was like a ticking time bomb waiti
