  1. I don't know much about the organisation but the head is a guy called Peter Watson, top bloke and unlike some in the BDS really does know his stuff.
  2. Very true JD. An old uni friend heads this mob http://www.thedeerinitiative.co.uk/html/contactnor.htm Don't know much about them but he did know his stuff, he did used to wince though when I used to tell him about my exploits with the dogs- 'not the done thing'
  3. I know dry food is convenient but surely convenient is not always best? My neighbour 2 doors down feeds exclusively dry. He looks after his ferrets very well, they are housed in a large court about the same size as mine, always have fresh water etc. He has two litter siblings to one of mine but you would never know it, his ferrets have a dry dull coat. They also empty the water bottles MUCH quicker, that can't be good constantly being thirsty? They also shite a LOT more than mine. Mine are sleeker in appearance and have a very shiny coat and also seem much more lively. What I'm trying to
  4. I'm quite radical in the way I feed my ferrets. They get fed rabbits they have bolted or stuff the dogs have caught. :icon_eek: Dry food ok in emergencies but not as the main part of the diet.
  5. The only reason a HH doesnt "float my boat" is due to there main quarry being rabbit, as i said ive seen thousands of rabbits taken with a lurcher and my main interest is featherd quarry, hence why i am opting for a Gos, im wanting to fly it at featherd game. Don't agree with this at all. IMHO a MHH will give you a wider quarry range that any other BOP. True they won't 'catch' in the style of a gos on pheasant etc but they will certainly catch feather. Any way here is mine built three years ago 12ft X 10ft - 9 ft high
  6. There was a guy at the Scottish game fair last week selling lamping batteries at a fraction of the price you pay in shops...I'm at work at the mo I'll put up his addy and phone number when I get home mate. aye my mate bought one and it lasted one charge
  7. Good pic ferret kid, but I'd stay away from that strange looking guy

  9. Sad but very true - there will never be lurchers at Scone
  10. LOL@Brigg their is something about a bit of 'posh' fanny. I'm going tomorrow - free tickets
  11. Molly, the best hare dog I've had. Like a lot of good ones killed at an early age (3), she collided with a gate post Saluki x whippet/greyhound.
  12. YOU NEED TO USE T.C.P. - SPRAY OVER ALL KENNELS, WALLS, ROOF - EVERYWHERE. THIS WILL GET RID OF IT. You don't, Skycat is right. Once the dog gets over the virus thats it.
  13. Yes, wait until September
  14. see you at the beach You'll have a job it's landlocked.
  15. I visited in 1994 nice people, hot (in summer) but I can't remember being struck by the countryside. Was also very poor, but that was just after the Iron curtain had been lifted so it's probably changed now.
  16. Yep I agree with Ditch, I once had a bitch that used to do that, if the person moved closer she'd let out a small growl. I stopped it by taking her to places with lots of people ie walking her in the high street, once she realised they were not a threat she stopped. I'm having a related problem with my pup at the moment in that she is so pleased to see people when she is out she bounds over to them and wants to play ;( no malice but for people who dont like dogs a bit of a worry, it doesn't help when people pet them either. I shall have to take her out about where there are crowds as we
  17. Very nice pup. You can take her out a week after her second jag. As for how far and for how long? Just let her be a pup small walks at first building up as she gets older. Work on her obedience and enjoy her All the best
  18. .....short of carrying him on your back I'd wait until the cover dies down
  19. Nice wee video. Good to see you out there doing it, rather than many on here who just talk about it. :clapper:
  20. Hope I don't come across as having a go Sue. It's just that the original post (above) asked if he could feed myxy rabbits to his kits. Followed by several answers to 'bin' the rabbits. The answer to his question is that it is ok to feed them to his kits they will not be harmed. If he or you don't like the idea then that as you say is up to you. All the best
  21. Also in the wild predators, in the main, only get to eat the old, the sick or the injured thats good old Mother nature's way. Thus maintaining the prey species vitality. So IMHO feeding mixy rabbits is natural.
