I'm a self-employed gardener. Tick over in the winter, plenty of time for dogs etc. Crazy hours from April onwards. Love it
  6. An unlikely scenario, but yes it would be better because (provided only one, perhaps two dogs were slipped at a time) only the weak and unsound hares would be killed, shooting is indiscriminate. I also would not want to see another mans sport banned I just think it's not 'sporting'.
  7. its not sport shooting them they dont have a chance! at least with dogs theres a 50/50 chance they get away and you see a chase Direct hit= dead hare, miss= free hare. 50/50 in my book Shot in the arse - escape - slow lingering death. caught by a lurcher a nice and peaceful 1 i take it? A dog either catches or it does not - end of.

  9. Can anyone recommend a supplier of good quality rabbit snares? Don’t want many, just a dozen or so. Thanks.
  10. Beautiful birds. I work on a large estate and saw a flock of 30 - 40 birds yesterday. I believe thay travel here in numbers to escape eastern europe/russian winters. They chose wrong yesterday
  11. Have had this in the past with two ferrets. In both cases it was an abscess. One I got lanced by a vet, the other I lanced it myself.
  12. After getting f**ck all at school I did an access course followed by a degree in Ecology (2:1)- then a post grad. Loved the degree but very few jobs then (late 90's) One week after graduating (mature student) back driving lorries on the continent as I had a wife and kids to support. Now self-employed gardener - love it. BenBhoy, statistics is a vital part of a science degree.
  13. How many fox snares for the traps?
  14. Just ordered some magnetic ones from VISTAPRINT, just under £50 for 6. Had a quote for transfer ones today of a local company and they wanted £250 plus VAT Only worry is how secure are they - are they prone to coming off? Not that my trusty transit is that fast though.
  15. That one my mate got of you is a cracker. He's filling it with the best of chuck and I've never seen a pup grow so quickly. It's got a real Alaunt head now. I'll try and get some pics of it at the weekend. All the best
