I was with him in Cornwall with my Mate Anthony and a few others and he called in a couple of foxes in daytime . In all fairness he got them to come straight in within shotgun range . I’m not sure if his calling would have had the same effect in Gloucestershire pheasant shooting area , because his calling wasn’t much different to how we call them . But then we are only copying what we learned off his Videos ?

I’m on holiday in my caravan . Unless there is a good film on , there is little that interests me on TV so I brought some DVDs from home . My Mrs is sat there doing her crotchet or knitting, so she doesn’t care what’s on the box . I put on a Warrener dvd , called “That f##king fox had another lamb last night “. I used to have some of his old VHS videos years ago , and really enjoyed them . I watched this , and nearly every shot was botched . I don’t think there was more than a couple of clean kills on the whole film . Every shot was followed by him saying, “ I don’t know what ha

You are right about farm syndicates . My mate Tim isn’t doing his this year , and there are also a few around here that haven’t bothered . And even the bigger shoots were struggling to get birds . Most have put some birds to wood in July , and then had to put the rest in as and when they could get them . So they have days sold in early October , but they have birds on the ground which won’t be ready till late November. They won’t be wanting dogs in the beating line and the pickers up are going to be mopping up squeakers and wet youngsters. So you mustn’t beat yourself up . It’s a

They usually fray on those toadstools . -
That would piss me off , I do like to get lead in the air . The birds would start coming , I’d have a shot and by the time I’d reloaded they would be blowing the horn . ?

Well done and a good result, should keep the farmer happy, which is what you have to do to keep permissions. Like you I’ve never let the moon stop me . Foxes come out no matter what phase the moon is in . You just have to make sure like you did they don’t see you . I had a brace the other night and it was almost like daylight it was so bright. If anything it can help . I’ve got a digital sight ( not thermal ) so it works well in the moonlight without IR . So it can be an advantage.

Semi autos are a bit of a no no on game shoots . First - not traditional, second , safety, or being seen to be safe and those around you feeling uncomfortable. It’s nice when you are stood around waiting for birds to appear to be relaxed and have the gun broken and others to see you are safe . Also they spit cartridges everywhere and if you are in stood near bushes or bracken or heather , they are lost until Foxhunter or a Womble turns up . ?

I too was fed up with Winchester subs . I now use Norma and am very happy with them in my Tikka .

Thanks for sharing Wolfdog . I enjoy reading your posts and I also watch your YouTube stuff . I learn a lot from American hunters. I use American bullets but Finnish rifles . American camo clothing, but French wellies and German boots ( I wasn’t impressed with American boots in the Bass pro shop) . Japanese or Belgian shotguns . Portuguese binoculars and German scopes . As a British hunter we have to have our eyes to the rest of the world to source the best kit , and learn new techniques and tactics . I watch , filter out what might work here , like the tripods for example . Ke

Good luck , I hope it works out for you . I was up at the chicken farm last night and saw a nice Muntjac buck , and four fallow. The things are everywhere near me . On that little patch of about 30 acres which is mostly fields there must be 15 head of deer . He wants me to shoot the muntjac but leave the roe , I bet he doesn’t even know about the fallow. -

Just a guess . That buck would have been a clonker a season or two ago . -

I looked at the picture and thought , the scope doesn’t look right ? The bellows eye piece fell off and I had to go back and find it . ? -

I’m off down Dorset in the SL “ snatch style caravan “ tomorrow . My Mrs said pick somewhere near the beach , so I picked Chesil beach , and I’m bringing my fishing kit . So much for romance . So I thought I’d better check the chicken farm before I go . I got set up on my favourite pile of blocks and started scanning with the thermal. A nice muntjac buck made his way towards me and I adjusted the ir on the wraith . It wasn’t long until I saw a fox . Now this really gave me a good comparison to my old pulsar, as I am very familiar with how far I could effectively see and shoot -

Shooting deer leaves me stone cold . It literally doesn’t do anything for me . I’ve put my share in the chiller but if I never shot another it wouldn’t bother me . I enjoyed taking people out and got a kick out of seeing others enjoy a stalk though. But I just prefer to shoot foxes . -

That buck was “ going back “ a bit by the look of him . Nice result . I reckon I know who invited you as well. ? -
I’ve never even seen one . I’ve seen the damage they do .I try to avoid the Forest of Dean . Think of the film “ The hills have eyes “ or “ The wrong turn “ . They are a strange breed of people.

We have wild boar in Gloucestershire. A mate gave me this huge one as the game dealer only likes the smaller ones . I got it made into bacon and sausage. The smoked back bacon was the best I’ve ever tasted .

I would love a go at Coyotes. Have you ever seen film of those dogs chasing them around and getting them into a frenzy. Absolutely fantastic to watch . Could someone put a link up . I can’t think of a more exciting experience than to witness those dogs doing that .

I made a stick a while ago with a hazel stick and a fallow antler . The pedicle was quite rough and never felt very nice in the hand . I have noticed others with badges inlaid in them so I had a sort out , and got the dremmel out and found this old badge . I’m pleased with the outcome as I’m not one for wearing badges so this way it gets to see the light of day and is a nice reminder of a time in my life .

I wouldn’t have watched it .?

I suggest that some of you read this , then once you have learned all you can from Simon King , the master tracker . having tracked and observed the wildlife. Go ahead and kill it . My daughter picked this up in a charity shop and gave it to me . She said it was worth the £1.50 to see the look on my face . I’ve brought her up well and she possesses a great sense of humour.
