    I’ve got a pal called Tim , who I’ve been mates with since school, our wives are friends and we have gone on holidays with our kids and all that stuff . But as well as being friends we are very competitive . But Tim is a complete git and always on a wind up . He has “ got me so many times it’s not even funny “ .     Just thought I’d check in . We had our sixth shoot yesterday and I’ve now got a weekend off . But Mrs Shovel won’t be dragging me around the shops , I’ve got a days shooting on Saturday at my mate Tim’s shoot and another day on Tuesday as a guest at another small shoot . I asked a mate to pick me up a slab of cartridges from “Just Cartridges “ as he was going there . “What do you want “? He asked, “ oh something decent that will bring down the odd high one “. He got these , strewth , I’m not going to Brigands or Warter priory .

    I’ve just had a read through this , I’m a big fan of “ swamp people “ and I’ve watched every episode. Most of the shots at a Gator on the are off a rocking boat or hanging off a branch on the bank . In the OP the shots are at or about a 100 meters. What advantage has a 22-250 over any other centre fire ? 500 ft per second? I am only guessing , but any centre fire capable of putting a bullet in an small target at or around 100 meters would be good enough. Opinions are like assholes ….. we’ve all got them .

    Thanks Phil , I already do a bit of fishing as far down as Brean on the Severn . Have you been watching me ? Because I could definitely do with some casting lessons ?. As far as boats go , I have Zero experience, and won’t be getting anything till I’m down there . I will probably join a club and get as much advice as I can . I’ve got a lot to learn that’s for sure ……. but that is what I like to do , otherwise life is boring.

    I was shocked at £200 per tonne, it wasn’t too long ago we were paying £100 and we moaned about that ….. if only !

    I’ve no plans to . If anything I’d like to do more , more clay shooting and also I’d like to join a small syndicate and have a few days game shooting myself . I plan on keeping the chicken farm fox shooting in Gloucestershire, I can tie in visits to there with visits to the family. And see if I can get some permission in Cornwall. I’ve no doubt that there will be city dwellers who have moved to the countryside to live the “ good life “ .     Now , now ladies. May I suggest that any negativity or sensitivity be taken over to the earth dogs and terrier section or the general section. You will find plenty of members only to willing to engage in a keyboard quarrel. We keep things real and friendly on this forum .     Learning something new is something I like . I’ve never taken a boat out on my own . I’ve been on fishing charters before , but boat ownership and the sea / tides are new to me . Keep your eyes on the news “ idiot on boat , lost at sea” , I might if I’m lucky end up on one of the TV shows being rescued by the RNLI , if they’re not too busy ferrying refugees(? economic migrants) from France.

    We had Kate Garraway on the shoot over the summer. The estate was approached and the production team turned up and spent time researching the area . They asked for local characters and interesting people, needless to say the Gamekeeper didn’t fit into their narrative. Anyway, in spite of me not having a TV license ( I detest everything the BBC stand for ) I watched it . It showed the shoot , she even had her picnic next to one of the cover crops . I am even on it , blink and you will miss my ATV driving past the church (drone footage ) . Talking of drones , they got it stuck in
