  2. brock wasnt hancock breed i would still imagine having seen him on if u got a fiery one do the job fine he did them for fun.
  3. collie crosses do the job fine 15 years ago i was their when me fathers mates dog brock collie/grey then 8 got two in one morning he was a hard as nails that dog disspached them well and i mean well as a boy of 14 u dont forget such things put it this way ive named my beddy pup in its honour as me da later that year lined him to his bitch and had a quality working line.
  4. hows the black/white one breed mate smashing dogs
  5. No mate; I had Whippets and Whippet crosses since the 60's, and the Whippet probably had it's hay-day in the 60's and 70's. But, yes, it IS, gladly, making a strong comeback, but it will never usurp the Greyhound as a base breed for Lurcher breeding. Cheers. as a wiser man than me ill take your word for it mate atb
  6. surely the whippet cross is now more abundant than ever and if a running dog is breed only one of two dogs can be used as a base speed wise as a rule these dogs would be whippet or the greyhound
  7. i think the deerhound cross is as english as it gets or scottish fantastic dogs
  8. with the taken up of a running dog and discussions prior to pitching my tent on a breed that would suit me i discussed at length with learned men of the sport it became apparent the whippet cross had become a stable mate of many a mans kennel however is this at the cost of the greyhound cross, is this a good thing given the current laws or an evolution of the sport.
  9. nice vid mate i wouldve had to get me rabbit suit on
  10. i personally wouldnt own one but only out of principal our youngans got collie/grey first cross smashing looking dog their is really no excuse when their is plenty of good collie blood i surpose its like battery hens eggs against free range ive heard of two lads running hancocks round my way decent enough dogs but not world beaters then again if my lurcher makes a decent one ill be happy each to their own.
  11. trained mine on a squicky ball in jacket pocket for first six to eight month fantastic looking dog atb mate
  12. anybody just starting out such as myself has to take into account obvious factors such as a farmer i had a chat with the other week had hes lambs worried and two killed by lurchers he even went so far as to show me pics on his phone so straight away u where on the back foot so to speak i have however come to the conclusion that much like people every farmer is different, most of the ones ive spoken to arent bad blokes but i havent had much success but just like fishing the fish wont just jump in the boat keep at it mate youll eventually click.
  13. my father bleats on about a dog called skip which was a english setter cross collie 19inches and quiet racey lost at work chasing after a bitch an old couple had took him in but couldnt control his urge to hunt so had him put down at 2 an a half 6 mths after he had been lost 1 week after my father went to the house he was devasted, he was a gift off his mate after a accidental mating the rest where culled and he was given chance of pup kept to wean the milk off the bitch by all accounts he was a fantastic dog ill put it in me fathers terms "out from 6 weeks in the fields u caught it or u didnt
  14. not keen on the bull crosses but if i didnt already have a pup 5mth to fetch on id be tempted by one of these best of luck with them mate they sound really genuine dogs.
  15. dont use a whistle as i like the dog to work the ground itself within 30-40 yard radius of me however dont use a gun i can see its usefulness nice video atb
