  1. sounds a smart dog skycat enjoyed the read on reading the rest of the thread a slow dog isnt going to catch bunnys regularly its going to miss alot as most runs are close to the dyke and getting the rabbit under enough pressure to keep the quarry in space enough to course is the name of the game isnt it
  2. does it take a better dog to catch during the day consistently than a dog that can catch consistently on the lamp and if so does this mean the quarry stands a better chance day time as oppose to night, if this is the case is their such a thing as strictly a lamping dog and a daytime dog even in the instance of the same breeding?
  3. ive seen them feed on all kinds of diets but the fact is a good dry bait and then a high protien dry food over the season is more than enough you see dogs with legs like tree trunks but if you get a dog the work it will take shape just as well on a good dry bait without all the additives.
  4. in the case of brains vs speed i would go brains everytime but in the case of 1/2 v 1/4 i personally wouldnt have a collie/grey x without something else in it such as saluki, deerhound, terrier i dont see where the stamina comes from as a collie is a completely different kind of stamina from a running dog.
  5. cover the bitch twice at three days apart
  6. 13 days normally thats what i was told mate
  7. nice looking bitch mate mines picking up a few bad traits at minute but in the house he is spot on with the spaniel which i thinks half the battle if he makes twenty plus ill be happy nineteen today so should theoreticlly make it easy enough mines for small fields and working off the shoulder of the spaniel and the odd night lamping fingers crossed should make a decent rabbiter.
  8. some people rave about pure whippets a lad i know has one nearly three doesnt have it out a great deal and we went out on the lamp with his whippet and me da lurcher i was quietly impressed wouldnt jump however which is a no no for me and not the best recall but this is most likely due to time spent on the dog anyway i went and got a three quarter whippet quarter beddy after so that says it all for me if you put the time in mate you can shape the dog to how you want it
  9. nice pic mate im looking forward to seeing mine run only having ever watched greyhound crosses on
  10. nineteen inches just over just had him out working the brush with spaniel and abit retrieval work with another lads whippet cross hes looking well just lacking the stride of a mature dog but cant arf shift off the mark had a scare with his front knuckle had to rest him up this week whats the right time to move him onto the higher protein bait?
  11. beddy is six months old and eighteen an a half inches looking quiet stocky for a three quarter whippet i was just wondering from experience what size will he make im hoping for twenty inches plus really cheers atb.
  12. not really a line i have ever seen run i could understand if you had a good whip and wanted to inject some size but other wise not a line i would use everyone has their own idea of want they want from a dog atb.
