    I dont understand how anyone could say that dogs slow, it makes up the big gaps more than quick enough. Its a genius at positioning itself. It settles in and knows when to save its energy but when the hare gets near cover he accelerates like a whippet grey. Could watch clips of it all day. In fact i dont think ive ever enjoyed watching clips of any other dog more than Red

    couldn't agree more. If someone charges a grand a pup and denies doing it for the money then theyre lying. But so what. What's the harm in making a nice bit of cash aswell as your choice of pups out of the bitch you've put so much hard work into. Its been said enough times in this thread now, you dont have to pay it

    Maybe morton and northernlite dont understand what i mean about luck. I'm not saying you can fluke bringing a dog to its full potential by coincidence or circumstance. I'm saying the luck part is how much of the parents traits, physical attributes and abilities are passed on to the pup. If you could guarantee the offspring would always take the best from each parent and never throw back to some less desirable traits and attributes then every decent dog man would have kennels full of world beaters

    i never said its all about luck, far from it. I know so called dog men that could own the best bred pup with all the ability in the world and still f**k it up. Its a dog mans job to bring the best out in a dog. But there's only so far each dog can go. Its pretty obvious really

    as if its anywhere near that simple. Obviously breeding is important but no matter how good a dog man somebody is theyre still gonna need some luck in just how much ability the pup has. If it was as simple as you say then they wouldn't need to pick the right from the litter cos theyd all be identical in ability

    Luck is always gonna come into the equation. But you'll need so much less of it if you buy from a good line and so much more of it if you buy from shit

    As long as you ain't peddling, and youre breeding your own bitch to keep a pup back for yourself. Then i dont see the harm in charging whatever people are willing to pay. Personally if i were looking for a pup now id want it to be out of the best bitch that had a litter available to me. I'm far from wealthy but my dogs are my most prized possessions and wether they turn out half decent or not they stay with me for life. So as far as in concerned a grand is f**k all to know that I've given myself the best chance at making something decent out of it. annoys me when people say breeding means no

    yes mate that's exactly what its like, a slight puff from the corners of his mouth just now and again. And maybe once a day hell sneeze aswell. Got a second opinion today they couldn't find anything said hes in perfect health and not to worry unless it gets any worse

    Anyone experience one of these? Been vets yesterday but im going to another today for a second opinion because i dont agree with the immediate diagnosis of lungworm. Its such a minor little puff with the occasional reverse sneeze that i haven't really been worried until yesterdays diagnosis. It's probably been about 7 weeks now but most days he'll only do it once or twice and it very rarely becomes a gag. Its completely dry, doesn't sound as if there's any fluid in the lungs which doesn't fit with any of the possible causes I've read about. Hes been worked this week had some minute and a hal

    Sounds a special dog. A lot of coursing men today would boast about shooting it or leaving it in a field for pulling up even though most men would kill for a dog capable of 3's and 4's. Wouldn't bother me because if the dogs as clever as you say it wouldn't be hard to trust that it knew it weren't gonna catch that one. Can you remember anything else about the dog? Its name or who owned it?

    i can imagin mate, that hare deserved the respect of every hunting man, just shows that to some the kill is more sought after than a piece of nature that was more than testing for dogs.should of definitely given it the respect it deserved and let it breed on
