  1. i like an all rounder myself, a 'martini dog'. so not too small, about 23"- 25". i like a fast dog, but not too fast. i hunt some rough steep ground, so needs to have a bit of bone and sense if its going to stay sound. but the number one priority is that its in tune with me, is attentive and biddable, at any distance. they got to h,j,k,c, for me, no freelansing. above all they got to want it as much as i do, no time for slackers or slip dogs.
  2. thank you for the welcome lads atb
  3. i havnt read all the replys, in the past i try to dispense with a lead completely as soon as possible when lamping alone but if theres other dogs on the field i only ever use a bit of cord, a young dog is far less likely to lean on the lead if its thin cord. looped round the wrist. its ifinately adjustable, you cant lose it, it never gets in the way,(hands free for retrieves) and it cant foul up or release prematurely,
  4. hello to all from sunny south wales. names chris hawke. been hunting since a kid, lurchers mainly, but had a few terriers and beagles, spaniels. at the moment i got a retired lurcher (13) springer dog (3) a gsp dog (2) and a lurcher pup (4 months) pup that goes back to my old dog 'troy' (hes the great grandfather both ways on sires side) 5 generations of collie greyhound/bull greyhound early days but ive got high expectations. been flying a male gos this past couple of seasons over the springer . but miss the lurcher work out on the hills. well, as the season draws closer, good lu
