Hi, I'm after some advice - help in training my cocker bitch. I've had my cocker bitch for about 8 weeks now, she's 8 months old. She's very timid, clingy and would jump in you pocket if she had the chance. 1. She'll sit on command when off the lead, when playing with the tennis ball i get her to sit, once sat i'll throw the ball, returns it end of. When on the lead walking getting her to sit on command is very tough, she'll look up as to say "what you want". I give a little tap on her back end and she usually sit 2. Down command - as in lie down. I've only brought this command

Never met Peter Jones, but have soken to him. I rang him as i was after a cocker bitch, he didnt have any he said he'd have a look round for me ( i didnt think any more of it) The next day i had an answer phone message him, saying he had rung aroud a few places and found a cocker bitch for me. I found him realy helpful.

Went to Tesco earlier, they had an offer on a fur throws 150cm x 170cm was £20 reduced to £2.50. People were going out of the shop with trollies full. I bought two both for the dog. Very happy with that. -

She was ok last night, neighbour said she didnt hear her. I put my dirty t shirt in her kennel for her but she's not using the kennel yet. Im not too worried with that, as its quite warm out now. I've put 2 solar lights down there for her, as its quite dark at night. I'll leave it for tonight then if she persists tomorro i'll put a radio down there. Thanks for the advice. Dan -

As per title what the feck do i do to keep her quiet. I just ignore her. i sleep fine but the neighbours dont. She's six months old had her from a guy who had 12 dogs in a couple of kennels so she's used to company I've had her for 2 nights going on 3rd night. so fair enough new kennel and all that. So please ideas wil be greatly received. Thanks Dan

You do your 2 year probationary service on the beat, then you are able to specialise in specific departments, be it CID, neighbour hood patrol or armed response. The thing is with dog handlers, is its so hard to get in. for one peple who become dog handlers are thee for life, so vacancies only come up when they retire, then when vacancies do come up the application list is huge, then theres the tests-which i would imagine are pretty difficult. Thats my knowledge of the Police dog schools. No im not a copper, i just know a thing or two about it Dan

run your shower nice and hot so your bathroom steams up, bring your dog in for 5mins (dont put him/her in the shower, just in the room) . The steam moistens the mucus in their throat and releives the cough.

I turned my back for 2mins and one of my poleys managed to climb into the tumble dryer extractor pipe, i got there in the nick of time, pulling her out by her tail.

They will stil work no problem. But you may want to give them a balanced diet, fresh meat, rabbit - chicken what ever's to hand. in the summer i used to feed mostly dry whcih would reduce the number of fly's.
