  4. Hi, I've had my 1st gundog for 6months now, training has been going well 2 steps forward 1 step forward and 1 step forward 2 steps backwards. So she's 12 months old now, walks to heal on/off lead, recall and stop to whistle and retrieves ok. I messed up on the recall with her a bit, when i had her at 6 months old, all she knew was the 'TENNIS BALL' she's crazy for it, so i'd throw it and she'd retrieve no problem. I then bought Simon Tyers DVD on training cockers watched it through and through, i applied some of the training tips most worked great. But then when i introduced the S

  6. G'day Just thought I'd show you Ferne, my 11 month old Cocker Spaniel Bitch out of Mallowdale Grand (sire ) x Dearnvalley Venus (Dam). She's a good little bitch, very very quick covering ground and a nose to match. Training coming on well, I've had her since 6 months old, so considering the short space of time i'e had her training is going well. She's house and kennel trained, walk to heal and works on whistle, sit/stay and recall and retrieving. On the other hand, my training i coming on ok, first time I've had a cocker, so patiece is a must, I'm lucky ive got a

  11. Canicom anti bark collar, gives a slight shock when the dog barks. £60 well spent, especially when you consider the council can slap a £6k fine on you for the dog barking.
  12. Dont compost it. I got an old paint tub and scoop all the shit up and put it into the bin, then put the lid back on. When bin getting full, just get rid, in the rubbish or at the tip.
  13. For Kennel cough, run a nuce hot shower, close the windows and doors in the bathroom, and then bring the dog into the bathroom with you for a couple of minutes, the warm moist air sorts all the air ways out.

  17. I would use a check chain / choker chain. When walking and dog pulls, check the dog back to your side and in your normal tone of voice say Heel, continue this until the dog gets the idea. I wouldnt use a collar as it doesnt do nowt for them as in restraining. When checking back make sure you yank it harply, but not so that you rip the dogs neck off, use your own judgement. When your dog gets the idea of heel, you can then change to slip lead. Thats what i do. Dan
