  1. If she's willing mate, let her get in there. vaccines cover lepto, but really dogs build up their own immunity to the local strains. All my dogs will take rats if they get chance, never had any issues beyond odd bite to nose, an terriers love ratting
  2. Guessing she feels you've had your share of the booty, and she should cache some away for when times are hard, just incase you forget feed her, or something. Dogs cache food, long as it's not in my bed I ain't bothered anymore
  3. Vet glue mate, it's blue, and expensive but worth it's weight in gold, I have saluki types with thin skin, hve had two surface injuries in as many days, one to the chest between the front legs, one to the side f a fore leg. (This isn't a regular thing, I'm as careful as anyone can be, and these are this first injuries incurred by my dogs since one ran into a tree last winter, and I have A LOT of dogs, 12 at present) Anyway, as lng as it's a surface wound, and clean of forigne bodies, dirt etc, a few drops of this stuff will bond the edges and hold as good as stiches, buys you plenty o
  4. I think they are good looking dogs, but pretty difficult to handle, terrible recall etc. They are basically bred to flush out rabbits in places like the open, rocky scubby brushlands in Malta, they are designed to work in large packs and they 'open up' thet is they make a lot of noise in the process, which is great if you want to drive out bunnies in Malta, not so great if you want a stealthy approach to your quarry uk terrain. This is the main reason they are not much used I believe, aside from I don't see they have anything special (except massive ears) to add to the gene pool, they
  5. All mine have their dew claws. Front dew claws are often articulated and do play a role in grip and turning in some dogs, depending on the position and form. Never had and problems that weren't easily fixed with a bit of vet tape and TLC, leave well alone, I feel, unless there is a medical reason to remove them
  6. HOW? reveal to me this elusive art of uploading, I can't upload any pictures, tried via photobucket and other sites, lovely dogs there matey btw
  7. I've got too many dogs really, but I love them all dearly, and they all serve a purpose, the little lurchers are great daytime and also great lamping dogs, the Salukis are great in open spaces and over distance, the Borzoi does well with rabbits in the open (daylight only, or I'd loose her, and wrks well with the Salukis) My terrier and little lurchers are top ratters, and the site where I live needs good ratters All bitches, all the way. I find them more bidable and eager to please, they work harder to please me cause they get more jealous, though when they all come into season
  8. Hope it works out for you matey all the best to you and your dogs
  9. It's a terrible picture, I didn't take it, I can't upload any of my own photos, even via photobucket, will figure it out eventually... Anyway shes Saluki/collie x whippet, photo don't do her justice she is a stunner, been lamping once or twice, just for experience, but she's still very young and I'm hoping this season will make her
  10. It's a definatly a jackel, not a wolf, even to be one of the smaller wolves (carpathian wolves are very small, as are Asiatic, i agree) but that is far two small to be either, the proportions are fox like not wolf like, the noises are jackle noises, that is a Jackle. Salukis are trained to hunt jackle.
  11. If they light blue at 8 weeks usually stay blue, looks like yours will stay blue /grey. If they dark blue at 8 weeks usually go hazel
  12. Some cracking looking dogs by the way lads
  13. This was mine at 15 weeks, she's 19tts now and she is a super dog. I am trying and failing to upload a pic of her now. She is very smart, very eager and very fast, she's nine months old, learning fast, can't wait to try her in earnest this season. She is beddie/whippet saluki/grey with a touch of collie
  14. Thanks thats great, never even crossed my mind, cheers lads
  15. Just got a stunning little bitch, 10 weeks old Borzoi /grey x saluki/whippet, tried uploading photos from my phone, my mates really old phone, a camera, still no luck. I'd love to post some pics of my dogs out and about, and just because my dogs are so ace, but no matter what I try it says ' file size is too big' I'm pretty sure EVERY photo/file I've tried can't exceed the 200 whatevers of download. any suggestions lads - many thanks
  16. my dog of choice is the Saluki, but I have a full borzoi who is an excellent worker, and I have a deerhound/collie/grey that is a really useful bitch, I had the chance to get a full deerhound puppy a few weeks back, I'm still deliberating but after reading these posts I'd be willing to give it a shot I think.
  17. I raw feed my dogs, they are markedly healthier for it, teeth much cleaner, coats look better, more stamina, and much less dog shit to clean up, plus they really enjoy a good raw bone with plenty of meat on it (who dosnt) It takes a little while for their stomachs to adjust if they are used to dried kibble type food, they may get the runs. One of my dogs siply will not have it, she literally would prefere to starve than eat raw diet and remains on dry food, but the others thrive on it.
  18. Very pretty, all the best with her matey, I love salukis
  19. My Salukis chip has moved a good distance from the implantation site and is now palpable in the side of her neck, just in front of the shoulder bone. It reads fine, had my vet check, and seems to have now become encapsulated as it hasn't moved any further after the first few weeks, so it should be ok, but I'd monitor it's progress incase it migrates deeper.
  20. I have a Beddie / Whip with a little saluki, she is a fantstic little rabbit dog lamp and ferrets, but the terrier is very dominant in her personality and she can get really beligerant and vocal at the most inconvenient times. She dosn't work well with the salukis as she tends to trip them and bring them down in her excitement, but she is only nine months and got a lot of learning to do. Overall she is a good little dog.
  21. Lovely looking dog, matey, she's got neck like a swan, bet she has a good reach on her.
  22. 959 FOUND in Birmingham (find area unknown) on 11.07.12 Lurcher, male, fawn, no further info at present CONTACT K9 Search UK Spotted this post on another site and thought it was worth putting up here in case anyone knows of a lost lucher in the Birmingham area, sorry it's vague.
  23. It's very traumatic to have the dew claws removed off a dog older than a few days, plus salukis have a high body sensitivity i.e low pain tolerance, and saluki, esp. pups and young saluki have a very low tolernce to aneasthesia and any surgery is extra risky for them (due to low body fat, which metabolises aneasthetic drugs). Try figure out why she doing it, it's not normal, there must be something causing her irritation in that area, or it may be a habit she's developed. if you can get a vet to rule out physical, buy some bitter spray you can get it at places like pets at home, an
