    I have a springer that does it. I can't see what the problem is with them speaking it lets me know something is about to flush. I only roughshoot pheasants woodcock and duck might be a different story on a commercial shoot though

    Give the patterdale to someone who will give him proper work and get yourself a spainiel its only a matter of time before your dog finds a sett and decides he wants a change from rabbits. I can assure you you won't know every burrow on your permission

    What's the most embarrassing thing your terrier has done. Mine was a young patterdale dog I had last year he was progressing well although there was times he made a few mistakes but nothing that doesn't happen most first season dogs. Anyway me and two mates went for a dig and headed to a plantation of fir trees that holds regular. The lurcher was the earth about a minute before we got to it and he was down to his shoulders in the hole so we all knew foxy was at home. I let the young dog off the lead and away he went we got a mark at five foot and began to dig the after an hour we broke through

    Bolted 1 before into a net and it ran away with it over its head. When the ferret came out it it's hair was all standing on end and when I went to lift him the fecker latched on to my hand

    Hate the stuff with a passion. I was out doing cover for fox with a few lads about 4 year ago and hounds were on straight away in the first bit we did. Out came foxy like a greyhound out of a trap and I was holding my mates first x bull and slipped him on the fox. the dog and fox went into the ditch and out across the next field. There was a new fence put up on the far side of the ditch were the dog went through 5 strands of the barbed stuff and tight as f**k it was. the dog came back in some state his whole Back was like a zip up fleece.

    was talking to a couple of lads local to me at the weekend , they claim to have bought two cocker bred pups " best line of black dogs in the country " they say , haven't heard to much of A Cocker myselfHave also heard lads claiming to have pups of him and love hearing their excuses when I ask about the dogs absence of a tattoo in its ear as I think the man tatoos all his pups in one eardoes he tattoo all his pups Collie x ? Do you think we were talking to the same lads ?Yes he does. Hard to know there's that many bullshiters that would tell you any shite to sell pups in our part of the country

    Was out today for a run with my bitch and ran a hare. The hare got up and was running hard and I didn't expect my bitch to make a catch as she's by no means a hare dog she turned him once and was going well until the bitch turned him a second time and when she made the ground up agin I could see that the hare wasn't looking well for making an escape and the bitch lifted him. When I got the hare of the bitch there was a bone sticking out just above where the foot joins the back leg. Has any one else come across this? It must of broke it when it turned the second time because he slowed down abit

    It's nothing to do with that I enjoy racing dogs myself it people spoiling the lurcher world by breeding racing bred lurchers that don't work I view it in the same way as someone breeding a 10 month old dog

    Nothing wrong with that I work my bitch during the winter and give her a run or two at a game fair. She's a 5/8 greyhound 3/8 bull. It's people with 7/8greyhounds 1/8collie etc or full greyhounds I'm talking about that spoil it for genuine people who work there dogs and enjoy a race or two during the summer for abit of banter against their mates dogs

    Ya I think you might be onto something. HAHA! Great post. It's unbelievable what you see at game fairs here people taking 7+ dog up so they have a dog to race in every class most of them being full greyhounds or very near it and eloctrolytes the give to a dog before a race when all it's doing is sprinting for 300 yards and back in the trailer. They take it far to serious and all they win is a bag of dog food and a rosette. Can't understand why they don't race greyhounds at least there would be good money in it for winning Cuz 99% of them don't wanna spend the money that it takes to go b

    Get a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 whippet/collie etc cover it with a greyhound and the pup out of that with a greyhound and the pup out of that again with a greyhound keep doing this for another 3+generations. that's what all the racing nuts in my part of the world are doing and claiming its a lurchers. If your just into racing grow a set and get a greyhound and get amongst the big boys instead of spoiling working lurcher races with your greyhound sorry (lurcher)
