I've been thinking kev............................. If Finn comes to this fishing comp he does know you have to be 18 to enter . ....................................... -
At first I thought........................ NO CHANCE . But after reading on it could be an interesting day or two. The only problem is my lot rioting on boar would be a pain in the backside until my weaners are in the freezer.

Yes they can be used on a terrier that hunts away ,they will tell you they are in ground but wont be as good as a terrier loc to dig on to , as they wont be as accurate as i think your talking with getting within 20ft with them Thanks for that. One more question, would they be a bit big for a terrier,i mean the transmitter if thats what it is,or would it be like a B/Flint ? These are some I saw a guy out using once As you can see not that big really

So, Tell Us, What Are Ye All At In The Veg Garden?

i think it will be a lack of moisture. Sow them in furrows cover with compost and a layer of vermiculite on top keep watered .You could put a slightly raised sheet/board over the sowed area which will help to retain the moisture. as soon as the first ones come through remove the board. for carrot fly apart from buying resistant seeds grow under fleece or put a 2ft polythene barrier all the way round them. I might just try that ............thanks for the advice -

How about some mixed salad leaves too . You can just cut a few out as you need them and some will even keep growing . A bit like cutting the grass but for the salad bowl -
Brains are never a hindrance in my book its only a matter of of harnessing that intelligence and enjoying your dog more because of it.

This lot of ewes seem to enjoy some hunting ....................On a serious not I avoid certain places like the plague because of lambs at foot not because fear the actions of my hounds or lurchers but because sheep can a bit dim witted at the best of times and lose they're off spring without any help.

Jai ....................if you want a few layers I could point you in the direction of a good place were I pick mine up from and not to far from you . I had mine at 12 months old at £4.50 a bird . Always had good quality birds from there you may even know for it.[/quote £4.50 ? Round here their normally price of what the pet food company gives the farmer £1/ £1.50 a bird. Is that at twelve months or when the they have gone off the lay ?

I can see what you are saying and if someone had said I was gonna give her 20 slips on her first night out I would say no chance. I was hoping to get 4 or 5. But like Jim said earlier, if we had ended the night after the first 7 runs then it would of been a disappointing night. 5 caught, 2 missed, all of them dropped and re-caught and none of them retrieved. Aswell as hunting up. We certainly wouldn't of ended the night on such a high. Runs 7-12 were a different dog. Retrieving to hand. Coming back after a missed run and holding the rabbits much better aswell as starting to look down t

There's giving a young dog 20 runs an giving a young dog 20 runs mate, I doubt gas or Jim for that matter would have took a youngster to close cropped grass with educated bunnys and expected the same results, I doubt they would have done it, but I know neither of them tbh. I have however entered youngsters in same way and done well with dogs doing well all there life's. Some places at some times of year are perfect for pups and to use that to a dogs advantage can only be a good thing. I was once out lamping with a family member, we were out with sole intention of testing his dog with a big

But it may have been 20x 10-15 yard runs? Is that worse than 2-3 150 yard gruellers? There's so many ifs, buts, maybes, what's, etc, at the end of the day gas has made the executive decision to give his pup that opportunity, some will agree some won't but it's his decision in the end. Your right mate but I just hope there not some youngsters out there thinking it's the norm .

I have sown carrots in boxes this year hidden amongst the mint, trying to beat the carrot fly. But I have also sown some in the garden and not one has come up, yet the ones in the boxes have done well. Beats me, the only thing I can think of is the soil crusting is stopping them pushing through? Might try some in the garden and put some of last years compost on top of the sown seeds instead of earth see if that makes a difference? TC I can mirror that Tc I put a few seed in a pot and they are doing fine...........very strange I even added compost to the soil this year and cover -
I've never seen the bitch walk never mind run so I can't really comment on if the bitch being ready but and there is always a but I would never give a pup I've had 20 runs on a first night out. bringing a pup on is all about progression in my book and 20 runs is paramount to chucking a kid in the deep end to learn to swim. A lot has been said on this thread already and I found myself sat on my hands earlier but each to there own. Gaz I'm glad your happy with her mate and I guess that's what really matters .
