I'm not defending it I'm explaining why its happening. We create too much waste its very simple, the infrastructure in place is not capable of coping with the waste we produce. Our local sewage treatment plant expansion was blocked by the residents for years and is only now going ahead regardless of the thousands of extra houses that have been built in that period that are serviced by it. I'm devastated by the state of our rivers and seas but a massive percentage of the dividends paid out to investors are propping up the pension companies that pay our private pensions. Again its shocking but its hypocritical to blame just the water companies we also have to take some of the blame, every time someone empties their half used pint of milk down the drain, buy a yogurt, drink a beer or even have household waste taken to landfill (creates leachate) we add to the problem and create waste that needs to be treated . We are too small a island to continue down this route and not suff

Picture of my back garden first year we moved in I live near the somerset levels so just expect it, plays havoc trying to keep a tidy lawn but it could be a lot worse.

Not sure if you have done it already but this will give you an idea of where you are at environmentally just put in your postcode Check the long term flood risk for an area in England - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) And the local water companies all keep records of the sewer and foul drainage which you can download free off their websites

Totally agree but in some cases they will spend to expand but they are being blocked at every turn simple fact is nobody wants a sewage treatment plant on their doorstep. And yep its criminal that the water companies are taking us for all they can but aren't all businesses. We as the guardians of this planet and consumers of products have a lot to answer for we all want is more more more and complain when we have to suffer the consequences sometimes we have to take responsibility for our actions as well. You cant blame any company for what I clear up regularly at my local park lake.

I've mentioned this in a previous thread but I can tell you this very minute tankers of waste from commercials sites are being rejected from the local sewage treatment plant because they cannot cope with the volumes of waste. This isn't all about profits our little Island can no longer cope with the amounts of waste we produce we are at bursting point.

They were doing that over 15 years ago and we refused to send our boys. When the school head called and asked why I simply send the same reason the Muslim children were excluded from going to the Christian churches and services, we moved the boys to another school the following year.

Well the threat of when being caught and then after a lengthy trial all paid for by the British Tax payer they get sent to jail where they get 3 square meals a day, TV, playstation, use of a gym, dental and health care and get to spend it on a wing ran by their Muslim brothers it would probably put them off!

Always been my dream and dont want to piss on your dreams mate but you would probably need at least double the cost of the land and even then the authorities would do everything they can to put obstacles in your way. Better off finding a pond/lake already dug, keep a eye out for Farmers looking to sale off existing ones on their land anything established and already run as a business goes for a premium. That land must also be near Cefn Mably lakes did a weekend in one of their lodges a few months back cracking place fished from a lodge with hot tub

Well done mate, pencilled in 62 for me so just over 5 years of slog left if I'm still capable. Saving like mad now as all the years I've put into pensions haven't seen the return you would expect even though they've been consolidated and screw going until 67.

Diana.......Due to take the kids swimming turned on the news and shouted out to the wife who was getting ready. I remember there being a crazy storm on the way to the pool expecting it to be shut but it was still open but had the pool to ourselves. On a smaller scale a great deal of places in the UK are like that, almost street to street in some cases. I'm a great believer in social housing but it stands out a mile on the new estates and sad to say it brings some lovely areas down.

Tucker Carlson now saying he contacted Boris Johnson so he could put his story across about the allegations he stopped any potential peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, Johnson has told him he wants a million dollars for the interview. Carlson said Putin did his for free! Now to my mind Johnson could have said yes a million dollars which I will donate to the people of Ukraine who are suffering, that way he gets his story across and makes a statement, but no he wanted it for himself.

If it does "go off" I dont think any amount of CCTV, cameras or alarms will make a difference. Feels like something is definitely building now, not just here but in the states. Cant see it ending well there either both countries could erupt at the same time?

Bulin T4 has a built in gas warmer so added with a butane/propane bottle never had a issue on the bank down to -5. Know what you mean about the Colemans got a sporter and the generators were always packing in. A little tip if your not using genuine coleman fuel a few drops of redex keep the sooting down and the generator clean. Also got a MSR whisperlite that will light up anywhere under any conditions, expensive and the pre warming bit always makes me jumpy but one hell of a stove. Bit of a novelty thing I find and a bugger to light and bulky, but once going boil quick. EBay Bulin T4 stove about £25 with adapter another £3 to take the camping gas bottles you get in B&M 4 for a fiver, with a small fishing kettle. Quarter the size and weight light first time and no arseing about finding sticks, pine cones or elephant dung to keep it lit.
