The problem for the “white British person” is we now have to find a cause to hang on to, to make us feel better. As a nation we have lost our pride and identity you can no longer not have a opinion, you have to have the same one that its supporters shout and scream the most about, the one that suits the media agenda. I recently moved home and went for a walk yesterday with the wife across the local nature reserve that backs out on to newly built housing estate. As we walked through we were commenting on how nice the houses were and how well maintained the gardens were, we then walked lite

Im a little further down from Brean on the Bristol channel coast but originally from Bristol. Went to Ilfracombe last year and it looked run down a lot was shut because of covid and the weather was shite so that never helps. Woolacombe and Westward Ho both have a cracking beach and if your down that way the fishing villages like Clovelly are fantastic, lynton, lynmouth and Coombe Martin on the way are beautiful too but be warned though they are very very hilly if you walk it. The cliff railway at Lynton and Lynmouth are a experience and you can always get the land rover to take you up and down -

Fair play, when I visit family in St Austell in Cornwall they cant get over how I love the place so I get it. Good job you didnt stay in the Pontins, they had a local news special on it last year after the roof dropped on top a load people playing bingo and they found more bacteria around the sinks than in a covid petri dish. -

Funny how places look amazing when the suns out..........Breans 20mins from me and I think its a shithole. If the tide stayed in for more than 10mins and the water was blue instead of chocolate brown it would be a bit better. Watch out for the brummies they are every where (cant miss them they all wear football tops) and please dont try walking out too paddle another report on the local news of some pillock being dragged out of the mud by the RNLI will send me over the top ? -
Never............I would have never guessed that when I met you ??

The skill shortage is only going to get worse and needs to be sorted at secondary education level. Its pretty clear what children are not academically minded from a early age so start looking at the individuals and channel their interest in a skill set. Bring back brick laying, plastering, mechanical engineering, welding, sewing etc, there is no point persisting with algebra with little Johnny if he struggles or shows no interest, all it does is chips away at a childs confidence and self ability. Of course It will never happen, the teachers and the current curriculum is more interested in

Large goods vehicle, but you are right it can also mean light goods vehicle, its hard work keeping up mate I still call it VOSA instead of the DVSA ?

Potential earning I suspect and probably ADR but yes rumour has it the shortage is so severe ASDA are paying upwards of £25 p/h and the usual prepare yourself for food shortages has started. Agree, average age of a UK LGV driver is 53 apparently.

Had a advert out for LGV vacuum tanker drivers for almost a month now Mon-Fri 7-4 £15ph flat, over time paid at 1.5 and x2 and only had 5 applicants, one didn't even have a LGV licence! Contacted 4 only 2 responded, only 1 out of the 2 turned up for the interview and didn't want the job. Certain sectors are struggling to recruit at the moment and cant see that changing for a while, 18 months of free money for a lot of people and they cant be arsed to get back in the market. For the grafters its great can name their price, one transport company in Bristol has increased drivers pay by 25% just t

The two books to ever leave me thinking wow! The Dig, Cynan Jones & The Kid, Kevin Lewis. Into the wild, John Krakauer and then two controversial and different ones, Sex drugs and football thugs, Mark Chester and a interesting read Enemy of the state, Tommy Robinson.

'Savage' otter given pride of place in manor grounds despite killing prized swan (telegraph.co.uk) Hope your well P ? There was a Swan at Combwhich ponds the locals named "cyanide" because he was deadly and would attack anything that got close. A otter is now a resident of the ponds and "cyanide" is conspicuous in his absence ?

Gurt lush accent ?

Peanut butter is a great bait but the mice always seem to clear it out before the rats get to it so try something a bit more "substantial" and I would also remove the back solid panel and put on some wire. I've always found rats and squirrels will be more likely to enter if they think they have another escape route, and change the location of the traps regularly if you stop catching.

If you watched the BBC news last night it would have you believe 99% BAME the other 1% white ?

Ive seen a load of companies have done these, what I don't get is they work out at about £5 and can apparently give a 97% accurate test result in minutes ! Why aren't the test centres using them and why did they stop the 30min fast tracking of vehicles to France because the test weren't accurate enough ? Even a test with the high street chemists takes 24hrs and costs £100+. If they are that great provide households them FOC and get everyone self testing every few days and back to work . Its another covid mystery ?

Seen loads live some have been a complete let down, saw Madness a few years back for the 4th time and they were shocking and should have given up years ago. Glastonbury 83 was my first proper live gig and shaped my taste for music later on in life with Marillion become a band I followed for years after.

Shocking, but as GM alluded to hardly surprising the world seems to be in self destruct mode. I was going to say "were all going to hell in a handcart" which considering its origins is ironic ?

Some representative from the teachers union on the news this morning complaining that to many children were in the schools when it should only be children of essential workers................When is the penny going to drop that almost everyone in employment is being classed as a essential worker ?

I don't think anyone would dispute a "lockdown" would not help in this situation but this isn't a lockdown. I work in a heavy industrialised area and there is not one single unit/operation that is not running, its as busy as it always have been. It feels more and more like our ability to do anything outside of work has been taken away and our civil liberties are being eroded.
-
I hope not, I'm moving further down South to get away from the shit stain that is Bristol ??
-
And has anyone seen the list of "essential workers" it appears almost everything other than leisure and activities are ok to crack on at work. The more this goes on the more it feels like a control thing.

Heard similar from a nurse based at Taunton, she was actually fast tracked so she could come to Bristol to man the Nightingale on the March lockdown, and we no what happened with that. I was also reading they reckon over 50% of the population have already had it without even knowing! I'm not suggesting the virus isn't serious but the response just seems to get more and more bizarre. Had a email from the Angling Trust last night fishing has been banned completely I seriously don't know how that is worse than me or the wife going to work and mixing with hundreds of strangers ?
