  1. No offense taken RD. Just got into working terriers after many years with bulldogs. Appreciate when someone can help me to understand these great little warriors. Thanks
  2. I read that jack russel folks used Middleton stuff to strengthen heads and add vigor. Have a half Patterdale Jack cross that looks like a Middleton bred dog. Interesting stuff I read in Sean Frain's book "the Patterdale terrier". Posted this question before and wankers talking from their a hole replied. Nice to read comments from people who actually research...before they comment.
  3. Have a dog pup myself. Inbred Gould black bill on top, inbred Scottish jrt on bottom. 4 months old and showing potential. Will post pics when I have a chance.
  4. Didn't jack Russell folks use his dogs to strengthen their lines? My understanding is that he had a lot of bull blood in his terriers.
  5. Not sure if you have any tick born diseases in the UK but if you must go to the vet, I would have a blood screen done to eliminate any chance that the limping isn't the result of some tick bite. Btw, limping (especially on the front leg) is the first sign of some tick born disease. At least here in the states. Good luck.
  6. Best game bred dogs come from the U.S. Period. As for pats, U.S. dogs are used for different quarry, not all but alot are used for above ground work. Yes APBT are descended from staffs. We just increased the weight sometimes and tested the hell out of them. Good dogs are where you find them. US or GB.
  7. Bloodlines are just a blueprint or map that can be referenced when one has good or bad working dog. The best dogs out there 99% of us don't know about. Best sign of a dog first is watching it's ass go in a hole and staying there till dug to, or best ratter etc. Depends on ones personal preference. There is good and bad in every bloodline. We also should keep in mind prepotent dogs as well. Some dogs really are able to pass on their stuff, others are great individuals and produce crap. Have a pat/jack cross from inbred working lines on top and bottom. If he works out, great. If not
  8. If it's mites, ivomec under the skin. Had this problem with an inbred patt. Otherwise, could be food allergy. Hope this helps. D
  9. With the exception of one dog which I purchased (20 years ago), the best dogs I have received were gifts. Yes there were some names of great dogs in their pedigree, but they were honest workers. Best to the best and forget the rest. D
  10. Hey Yngve, If I were you, given your present circumstance, I would wait. Be patient and network. Whether the blood is Nuttall or Booth or whoever, the main thing is the pup from working parents. I think there are alot of gents on this board that have exactly what you want. But you have to figure out what you really want to use the dog for (bushing, earthwork etc). IMO D
  11. Here's my 4 year old bitch. More of a rough coat, she's a hard lil dog.
  12. Hey Rc, According to the ped, Lowrider goes back to Short's Shredder/Rip at the top and Gould's Grip, at the bottom (coalpool). The Sam to my guy goes back to Coalpools black ice at the top and bottom. Black ice was bred to a bitch named Gravey's Thom. Hope that helps... D
  13. Coal pools black ice was a Irish bred game staffy bull. When bred to a pure patt he produced Grip. Spade, will have to find his peds, he's tight inbred coalpool on top and old nuttal blood on bottom. He comes out of a good dog named Taz whose father is Lowrider. McCoy stuff.
  14. I have a red male that goes back to coal pools black ice. Super inbred back to black ice. Mostly Gould bred. Bred him to a inbred Scottish JR. Have a nine week old male pup that's acting great for being so young. Will post pics when I can. D
