  1. Sounds like well bred animals, all the best to whoever has one.
  2. So have you an adult dog aswell fay? Whipp/grey to a good bull/grey IMO won't be to much bull but I've nearly always ran heavy bull blooded dogs . How ds your pup mate ?
  3. Yes mate with a 23 tts whippet mongrel bought just for rabbits like yours
  4. I don't think she was relying on them but was not of the stature to start them mid winter at 18 months. Long tail I know what you mean about having to hold some back but at the same time I don't think all dogs want to take them as they don't realise they're quarry as they're not naturally a prey. Again just my opinion and found that once that enemity has been introduced will kill them for fun
  5. They had no issue killing Lads don't get me wrong on that but they just took to much punishment for my liking to do them day in day out. Is tht what you where saying down south?
  6. As I said Paulus I'm going on what I've seen, the ones I've seen took to much damage to do them nightly for my liking as they'd always be sore the next night. May have jut been them. Also your bitch looks of a good strong stamp where as these where all like whippets with larger heads on them
  7. not really sure tbh. roughly 4-5month mayb? shes' keen enough when she gets into a field like. I don't mean to sound condescending mate but some of the shittest cuts have seen have seemed keen in the field an the best dogs have not seem interested and then vice versa. In your position keep it on a lead but don't let it ago, if it's mature enough next June/July when it's between 14-17 months try it on a small cub by itself you being as close as you can. Let the the dog catch it then dispatch it yourself as quick as possible, gradually increasing the time as the cubs get older til it's kill
  8. Hedz personally I'd rather all dogs did at least a few double, especially snake heads. Found that cues that won't do it alone can be good o enter a pup just before he does it alone as they get the confidence or shown the should grab the fox before doing it alone. I've found that some dogs, again especially the more traditional type will never grab a fox alone til they've be shown its allowed as there's no natural enemity and the scent puts them off so they but think its a game, then they grab it playing and it bite them they don't know what to do because if they were to grab (playing) an a
  9. How olds the pup houst? Hedz I think a lot of people consider 'doing a fox' to be a lot of different things and I don't think millet from the types of posts I've seen( feel free to correct me millet) is a foxing man but more of a rabbiter that took the foxes that popped up. So from my experience millet would give the dog more leeway than an out and out foxer as he wouldn't be concerned by it like others who were out purely for fox. For example I want a fox dog, if it ain't much cop behind a harr and have to run 10 to get when then so be it but I would not run 10 foxes to get one. It'
  10. That's true hedz, what I said was a generalisation but if the pup was strong and mature at 12 months I'd start it
  11. As for good shape, mooching and running with the other dogs upto about 18 months with abit of lamping but not to much and then when it's ready for its first season just up the work and road walkin . Only my opinion, very one is different so you have to find what suits you best.
  12. I think it all depends on the individual, everyone has different methods and it depends on when what time of year the pup was born. Agreed with chid on everything but the foxes really but only differ slightly. If the dog was born before August would allow it to see a few foxes run then at the end of the season run a few doubled with ( and must stress) a good single handed dog of the type that gets it over quick. Meaning the pup would be around 18 - 24 months and would then once it knows it can get a nip start it by itself the following June/July on corn cubs so as its confidence grows
  13. Only a few but they take to much damage I found to do the every night like a good bull/grey. The problem I found is that because of there size and heart it is closer to a fight. A good bull/grey of 60 plus pounds can do it in a few shakes or turn it over and bite through the rib cage where as the bull/whips I've seen where more like 30 maybe 35 pound so after one fix where ready for home due to the damage. I suppose it depends really, if you want the dog to kill foxes get a bull/grey. Get a bull/whip and let them catch the fox and kill it with a blade an they'd be ok but don't really thin
  14. they aint upto a good bull/grey as they aint got the size but think they make good rabbiters with the odd fox before the ban
  15. It's no different really to the lads that poach in this country except the lads in this country do it for fun not to provide for the families.

  21. Well not seen any down this way, also did cullympton/honiton the other day
  22. It's a shame doc, half the litters bred over here are culls before they're born but they hve to get a litter out of old Betsy before she passes. Lads I know bred a litter out of a 8 month old that that was a cull to a 9 year old bitch that wasn't much better. Asked why I didn't want a pup ffs
