    For me the anticipation of getting to the net and seeing what you've caught is everything. Same as not knowing if youll get caught being somewhere where you shouldn't be. With the thermal you see everything and in my opinion it spoils it.

    I've dabbled a bit with the owd long nets ( mainly night time ) and often on places I shouldn't have been. In my opinion the cheapest 4z 4" net is all you need , very capable of catching in number ( with the right amount of running kill ) if they are there. I have a couple of ancient 50yrd 4z nets here made with sheet netting from Advanced netting which have caught plenty. We ( smithie and I ) went down the thermal route and it spoiled the whole experience...

    I was given a .9 snipersling green set cut at 25/17 and it was brilliant and the lad sent me another set from a different roll and it squeaked as I pulled the bands back... terrible it was.

    There's no continuity in any of it.. they vary from roll to roll never mind manufacturer. That's why I went onto dankung tubes.

    I'm using. 85 redshot with 11mm steel and its killing at good distances.

    Constrictor knot using engels twine. Sometimes I wrap that with black Amber belt to neaten it up.

    I haven't found that they wear too much mate, I use dankung premium and they outlast everything I used in the past.

    Had a bit of a accident a few weeks ago.. I shoot with a relaxed grip and a tube snapped bringing the catty outa my hand hitting me flush in the eye. I'm left with a scar on my lense ( which will heal in time). So I decided to shoot light bands n ammo to regain form and confidence ( with a lanyard n shooting glasses). I'm quite amazed at what 7mm steel will do with a bit of practice. The rabbit was 20 mtrs and hit in the high neck/bottom of the skull.

    I much prefer tubes than flat band. They're more consistent and last longer.
