mine do what i want, ive noticed with saluki crosses you haveto work with them, some dont like doing certain things. one of mine wont retrieve he pins were he catches and waits for you, not a problem in my eyes work with the dog. one of them is a bit flighty around other dogs and anyone but me. one is deaf, not saluki deaf he is really deaf, really obedient trained to hand signals and does alot naturally asif he knows what your thinking. salukis arent for the unpatient.

right, so your 1 lamping hares ( a ready easy sport ) then there is the fact theyre starving due to the snow on the ground and very little traction in the snow ( even easier ) then the time of year they will be unfit and full of young????? are you an idiot or just like butchering sitting ducks?

My 7 Month Old Saluki X Whippet...
Daytimeonly replied to Daytimeonly's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
from different litters, same parents, when he was born he was stuck took a while to come out and we thought he was dead at first this is the reason he is deaf it isnt by genetics, it wasnt hard training i didnt really train him, from being young he has followed me to heel ferreting as a pup then hunting up in the woods as he got older then brought him onto the big fields at about 12/13month, he will chase and if he doesnt catch will come right back to heel That must encourage some calm, quiet handling............something that most dogs would probably benefit from.......? what do you mean -

hi all thanks for the positive comments! he is stone deaf ( medically deaf ) wasnt born deaf but during labor he turned deaf according to the vet, we did think he was dead when he was born.. but yes i work him more then any of my other dogs, he is actually older then i thought ive got his brother here too out of a different litter, but bracken is an excellent all round dog and i am not embaressed to show him to anybody in the field, thanks all

here is my saluki whippet i bred myself, i have both parents and he is coming up 2 years old, he wasnt born deaf, but over the first few weeks we think he turned deaf and started to notice it when he was about 8/9 weeks old. i tried to pet home him but nobody wanted him, what a mistake, wouldnt do without him, great dog thanks.

ive been told by many people its to stop the soft tissue on the neck being scarred with a thin collar, stops sists etc, but like i say just what ive heard, makes sense if you think about it, a thin collar cutting into the soft tissue on the dogs neck

Yes Dogs have made a name for themselves by running quarry and about bragging I mean theres no need to broadcast it in the Internet saying my dog does this, there are dogs out there no one knows about that are top dogs so you can't honestly say so and so's dog is the best because you haven't seen every dog out there run thumbs: but theres nobody out there with a dog to beat them, so hats off to them, they have the top dogs get over it imo
