  1. We were out on our permission today and Micks FHH took a cock pheasant. We were walking back to the car across a grazing field about 30 meters apart,i put up a cock bird it flew across from left to right about 30 yards in front of Mick, the harris intercepted it and took it in the air in quite spectacular fashion.Very pleased indeed fourth kill of the season, rabbit, crow, woodie and phessie in that order.A good week as gary the little male entered on friday on a brown rat,not so spectacular but hes going now at least
  2. Gary entered today, not quite what i was hoping for,he took a brown rat in the stuble,oh well lol
  3. So frustrating! he had great flights at a drake mallard (just escaped by the skin of its beak!)and a couple of pheasant but still no kill.Im not to bothered really he is chasing with conviction and none of the slips were really easy and his fitness is still not there,so he will be flown every day for the rest of the week hopefully fingers crossed a result will not be far away
  4. cheers mate i wont count me chickens just yet
  5. Cheers Al,hes a strange little sod he seems to go off the boil really quickly sometimes and others hes mad for it.I fed him earlier and kept his ration smallish he wa kept on weight at 1.4 1/2 and was like a man possesed when i gave him a bit of exercise in the garden.I know what he flew at lat year but at this weight has become sticky footed a little so i dont want to take any more off yet a i think he will be too low,ill keep him there get him fitter and see how he does if i need to ill shave a bit off later.he is hitting the lure great and i showed him a frozen cock phessie when taking more
  6. sooo close to entering him sunday he took the tail feathers off a moorhen, not a hare but more what i had in mind for him.I couldnt fly today but back out tomorrow so hopefully some good news
  7. I was out today with Gary a little MHH im flying this year, hes been flying free a few days now and im getting chasing the lure.Gary as been passed from pillar to post in his short life and to be quite honest somewhat ******ed up.Al (trappa) rescued him last year and did enter him at rabbit with no great success and with that being Als main quarry, he passed him to mick and mick gave him to me to fly.Because of his unwillingness to chase fur i thought id try to get him on feather this year and im using a swing lure with mallard wings attached and he is doin quite well.Anyhoo i was in a stubble
  8. we have a small male 1.3ish that we are hoping to use just on feather, thats all im feeding him at the moment, quail, pidgeon pheasant ect just so he knows that it tastes good
  9. couldnt help thinking every time a pheasant burst up,wish i had a gos I hope the hhs do us proud this year but they ainy gonna set any records against game birds
  10. I went to the farm bordering our permission yesterday to ask, well the farmer was very nice and polite but had to refuse because he was starting up a shoot and had just released 550 poults DIRECTLY over the fence from our permision we went for a walk with the dogs and i lost count of the pheasant we put up along with 7 hares, happy daysBTW he is very entusiastic about falconry and is happy we have permission around him so he can see us fly,mso no spoiling it with the other farmers for us.Nice chap, very nice indeed
