Ive been a member just under a year and found it to be really good. Loads of boat, yak and shore reports as well!
  2. Well guys i just got back from a 3 day fire course to find my FAC had arrived!! Sent away the paperwork on the 12th of may, had my interview on the 31st of may and FAC was delivered to my house on 15th of june. So 36 day in all, not bad i'd say! Gave a quick call to my local gun dealer and went for a look this afternoon.. Ended up buying a new CZ 452 style 22" in .17hmr and a A-tec mod never got a scope or rings so any suggesting would be welcome, thinking of something with 12 or 14 mag, budget maybe around £200-£250. Lucky for me a customer had just come back with a CZ
  3. Congratulations, just out of interest how long did you have to wait? There seems to be massive differences on how long you wait depending on where you live. I've had my interview and am now waiting (not very patiently ha ha) for my .22 and hmr licence to arrive!
  4. Yeah it can be expensive thats for sure! No way could i afford it myself, lucky my brothers mad about fishing too! so we just split all the costs 50/50. Long as you keep her at cruising speed (19 knots at 3900 RPM) then it's ok on fuel using around 1 liter per nautical mile... if you go flat out (28 knots at 5500 RPM) you can almost watch the fuel dial go down!! There seems to be quite a lot of people going kayak fishing these days.... at least the fuel bill will be £0 and if it gets you on the fish happy days!
  5. Thanks for all the comment guys, Yeah there's some good fishing grounds up here millet! Nothing beats a good day off in the boat...

  7. I'm in the same boat as you, had my interview 2 weeks ago... now i'm just waiting! Hopefully it wont be long i'm just itching to go spend all that money i dont have on cz's and scopes!

  9. Thanks for all the comment, I'm aiming to spend around £500 overall for the two scopes, Think thats a fair budget? Was looking at the nikon Pro staff 3-9x50 at around £200 here's a link http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/543/109431/nikon-pro-staff-3-9x50-rifle-scope/ I've seen that leupold range seems to be quite popular, looking at the 3-9x40 at £220 here's a link http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/543/102788/leupold-vx-i-3-9x40-rifle-scope/ Any thoughts on the above? Any other makes/models i should look at? Would maybe stretch the scope budget a little to buy something bett
  10. Thanks for the reply rake aboot, any reason for changing over to the 455? My brother had an air arms s410 which he fitted a thumbhole stock to, quite liked using it that's why I'm thinking 455... Althought I do like the black synthetic stocks on the 452's, he's got both instock I think so I should be able to try out both models before deciding. Out off intreast what sort of scope do you have on you 452?
  11. Hi guys new to this forum, hopefully this is in the correct section for this type of question. Basically i've applied for my FAC, had interview etc and according to the officer he couldn't see any problems with me getting my FAC, hopefully wont be long till i'll be purchasing my first rifle/s. I've applied for both .22 and hmr both moderated, my local gun dealer sell among other rifles CZ's which after researching online seem to be a popular rifle. I'm thinking along the lines of 452 style or silhouette or 455 thumbhole any thoughts on any of the said guns in either .22 or hmr? Also an
  12. Thanks guys, still getting used to using this site. Tried finding information using the search function on CZ rifles in .22 and hmr but cant seem to find anything, maybe using the search bar wrong?! Might just put up a new thread asking for information.
  13. Hi guys, As well as hunting im a keen sea angler so joined a fishing forum (world sea fishing forum) not that long ago which has been great, both getting information from members and helping answer question when i can! Now that i've applied for my firearms certificate after many year hunting rabbits with air rifles myself and .22 LR rifle with a FAC holder i thought it would be worth while joining this forum and hopefully get some peoples views on gun set ups etc and maybe in future help out other fellow members! As i said before i've applied for my FAC, the police have been around and
