  4. robert mitchum(plays a total psycho( letting on to be o.k ,for a bit)) i cant remember the kids names shelley winters was in it too - fantastic film
  5. But can the physical benefits not be gained through any type bull terrier ?......are they not too dog aggressive ?..... ive a few here that are a quarter apbt-no real problems with dog aggression-well i wouldnt let them off the lead around strange dogs. The size of them is very variable though -from an 11lb bitch to a dog that id say is 35lb +.The other 3 ive seen lately(all siblings) are a useful sort of size (18-24lb id say). TT do you find some that have not gone to ground as readily as a pure bred terrier?
  6. a keeper i spoke to said he couldn't decide whether it was letting water in or not letting sweat out. Either way he was damp. no good for the mountains you do mate
  7. my bro in law (J) said she is good bitch, hope the pups work well.
  8. Exact right. With the crosses I have especially our 50/50 crosses, we use them for barn work, brushing or back up in a sense by theirselves if they are DA and if not turn 3,4 or more terriers loose in a old barn/ country stead. We use them for above ground action, we have coons and game that is plentiful and the occassion dickhead coyote who thinks he can take advantage of our small terriers. Once the 1/4 bulldog into 3/4 ground terriers, the size shrinks quite a bit, getting an slightly above size terrier being 17-25lbs, tons of mouth with looks more to the patterdale side than bulldog for us
  9. thanks Ade, him and my son are dedicated followers of Andy's - they love a day out with the hounds
  10. agree, fantastic pics. loved the horn presentation pics especially. fair play, fifty years of running the hounds is some going mate.
  11. i'm sure there are bullx patt that work well, but wouldn't some of these get hammered in the ground on european game ?
  12. great pics, love the group shot (my nephew with the lurcher) - nice to see Andy got an engraved horn presented to him.
  13. hope it goes well tomorrow, always good turnout of working dogs. plus good food
  14. couple i've enjoyed listening to tonight...................
  15. there'll be a few clowns though plenty of them steve, but plenty of good lads there, fingers crossed for good weather, let's hope so mate, it's a good show and I know the boys put a lot of effort into it. every time i have been up there's been a tremendous turnout of working dogs. plus the food and drink is plentiful. all thats missing is a beagle spaniel class.
  16. No, my association was purely through a long search for a replacement terrier of a specific type around 10yrs ago. DH put me onto one or two people at that time & “J” had what I was looking for about 18mth later if memory serves me right & I rarely dig to other peoples terriers. Mack i remember those pics on the old Patt site, that must be some time ago, i feel old
  17. but if they're hunting through big brush piles they'll need to find first. i'd think he has it right, or maybe just a big Patt would do just as well?
  18. would have thought nose on a terrier would be better?
