  1. northern lite, the man that bred my original wheatn X was a terrierman, and he felt you could not have a better X around an earth than wheaton,
  2. i find it encouraging that the beddyX is doing so well, when i go on the bedlington forum even on there they debate it's abilities as a true single handed dog.
  3. i need to get out with these beddy boys more, i never realised there was that many good single handed ones out there! regarding numbers i wouldn't say thats relevant. Many people keep pure beddies for bushing work so the availibilty of stud dogs is greater, onlya digging man would keep a pure wheaton one more question for the beddy enthusiasts, can you think of any situations a wheaten X would be better?? nothing aganist beddy, i know they bring coat, feet, nose, fire to the lurcher. i would admit a beddy X probably has more wind and athleticscim than wheaten, but not sure on
  4. how long does it take to get approved be admin??
  5. i seem to have been outvoted! haha where's the wheaton boys when i need them?? just to be clear, you are saying that the best of the best beddy x can do same things, in same style as the best wheaton X my friends in ireland who do a lot of fox work generally have wheaton and/or bull x, just an observation
  6. i think you may have hit the nail on the head with the pound for pound analogy. beddy crosses won't come near the wheaton x for size and power - so the bigger the game the better off you are with a bigger dog. no one wants a long drawn out struggle.
  7. no problems, would be nice to know about the dog from the owner if he's on here. would agree too many dogs are made or ruined by internet/beertent hearsay.
  8. thanks bunnys, good informative post, what forums are for - i get where you;re coming from
  9. don't worry, just would have been nice to know about a top notch collieX that was tested. if it'll cause anyone bother i'll leave it. best wishes
  10. All depends what you are looking for in a dog brains or brawn, There's a dog by me ..typical youngs lads dog...never been got fit..just straight out of its pen into the truck and run on anything and everything...the dogs 6 now and still a machine..the dog was worked 5 or 6 nights a week....I never seen a dog like it...there's a few respected lads on hear that have seen claud in action..he's a collie x with no bull blood in him at all... borderx or beardiex ? - what % collie? were his parents good dogs? have they used him over a bitch and if so how have the pups progressed? sounds great ani
  11. all depends on what you want to use them for.
  12. There are some tremendous bull X's out there, but they gave people a short cut to a dog that would work biting game from 12 months onwards, with no real need to enter carefully. (Similar to the black terriers). As a result the need for other crosses to do teeth diminished. Their abilities on fox became less important than their ability as ferreting/rabbiting dogs. So naturally not all became good foxing dogs. Giving the X a bad name. BUT if all we had to work with was collie's then foxing boys would have developed some good lines of fox killing lurchers no doubt.
  13. any experienced collie X boys have any thoughts on whether beardie X were better on fox than border X ??
  14. shame, he was a good reliable hound for you - i think Oliver had a soft spot for him Mulligan is going well, hows the rest of that litter?? me and OD said recently we are coming over next year no matter what. when does your season end?
  15. not much music today mate, cold, wet day too
  16. is it one big crazy wind up ? tell us.
  17. not a loaded question, but did he breed Simon?
  18. i think you always take that chance if you try sell working dogs to working men for a lot of money.
  19. accompanying lurchers have had a few rabbits too, everyones contented
  20. i would say the beagle/harrier blood introduced from Dungannon pack has taken them up a level.......................................................................
  21. thanks Graham, she looks a strong bitch, like her mother but maybe a bit more powerful again. nice to see her out in the field, sure she enjoys it. she is 17 weeks today
  22. i think he did everything expected of him in the field and more, i'd like to know if there's brothers, sisters and aunties and uncles out there still i was told he had a brother called Jonny that was killed in a kennel fight with two bull crosses.
  23. spoke to him mate, but he didn.t know if there was any of the breeding around anywhere. told me about the dogs abilities
