  2. real nice, not dissimilar to one I got here...
  3. that Daryl Pandy in your avatar JD?
  4. Spaniel x sounds better bet to be honest- if they are working bred they should switch on naturally at some point - but it'd help if you could get an older working dog to get the youngsters going more quickly.
  5. do you mean full hounds or hound x's? If you mean full hounds they're a hell of a commitment and need an experienced hand. I know a few people who have managed to get hold of some and ended up losing them and getting into all sorts of bother. you also need to have a lot of permission as it's nothing for a hound to go a few mile on a line. maybe spend a few seasons with a pack and get your head around it all.? Or get bushing type bred to flush but not run on?
  6. yep my mate has a GWP x bull grey, bit heavy but good hunting animal and very tough. they used the dog on a pure grey last year and pups shaping up very nicely. few threads on here about GWP x's over the years
  7. he looked a big lump of a dog, and some genuine old lads on here saw him go and said he was the real deal.
  8. My heart would be in my mouth working that close to a busy road, you must have good control over them
  9. what does one of those do that a purpose bred protection breed doesnt/couldnt
  10. what would the lab add that a GWP wouldn't? Bit more biddable I guess, but anything else? thicker coat and less wide ranging? Id say the pointer would give a decent jacket anyway, my mate has a cross and has good harsh coat. would agree about less wide ranging, I guess that could be a bad or good thing depending on how and what you're hunting.
  11. what would the lab add that a GWP wouldn't? Bit more biddable I guess, but anything else?

  13. sounds great, did they ever breed him?
  14. nice all terrain, whats he used for?he's used for everything spindolero he works with hawks, guns, lurchers, ferrets terriers,he's 12 yrs old now I think,he knows what your after when he's out lol he's done it that many times honestly the dog is on the ball, the lad who own's him comes on here now and again he could tell you stories about this dog and the lads who wait for it to clear a wood or patch of bramble etc could too atb AToh ye he lamps aswell haha Atb AT thought you were going to say you can dig him too
  15. People tend to cross Bull into stuff that is lacking something in the first place. They think the Bull blood will compensate for whats missing. Personally I wouldnt want to contaminate my Bull/Greyhound blood with the other stuff. the only reason I put another breed to bullx is to get better wind (stamina) a saluki or coursing type dog . I suppose it what your doing with your bullx , if its on a lead most night until it sees its quarry ok , but if its have a lot of runs in a night , bullx with the above breeds is what needed for lot of running If there is plenty of bull in t
  16. hi Keego, didnt go in the end - i took the terriers for a walk and it was such nice day kept walking and time went on. The boys said it got warm and scent was poor. Im should be with him tomorrow
  17. If the dog was that good you'd have no end of people willing to take it off your hands regardless of this fault, its the way of the world sadly.
  18. Foxpack I bet you knocked some out of that bank behind the bridge over the years?
  19. Think one or two members on here saw the dog go.
  20. we're out tomorrow - ill tell him to look on here OK
  21. well if if you breed a or 90lb or even 100lb coursing greyhound to a 50 or 60 lb bull and keep keeping the biggest you could end up with all the height and length of a greyhound and build and muscle of a bull something I would want but there's the reason behind it,my britches sister was 29 inch and racy out of a 1/2 cross and a 1/4 bred bitch so there's lots of permutations when breeding different types of dogs when you put it like that i suppose it could happen, it'd be nice to think that somewhere out there are lines of bull x that are athletic, not too big , say 75lbs and still able t
  22. interesting post Bosun - so do you reckon these were the types used to get the giant lines bullx we see today?? or would you say there's something else in the mix. ? you used the word athletic and thats not a word i would apply to some of the bull lurchers i see.
