  1. Archie, I've been shooting my brothers .177 TX, its not convinced me enough yet. Dave, like I said, PBR for a .22 is roughly 7-35 yards, meaning that you will hit a 25mm target in the cross hairs at these ranges, .177 is roughly 8-45 yards giving you an extra 10 yards or there abouts. After these ranges you either need to know the distance, or use a range finder for either calibre so it really makes no odds.
  2. Hi Pianoman You basically just confirmed what I said, .177 really doesn't have many benefits at all. The trajectory really isn't all that different. From roughly 7-35 yards, you are going to hit a 25mm target by aiming in the cross hair with a .22. With a .177 this is extended to roughly 45 yards give or take a yard or two. The plasticine test was eye opening to say the least. The .22 left a hole nearly twice the size of a .22 pellet, the .177 hole was the same size as a .177 pellet. .177 is affected a hell of a lot more by the wind so the extra range is all well and go
  3. I've been trying to decide which calibre for my next rifle for nearly two weeks now and as I'm buying new I obviously want to make the right decision. I had a good old think today, which was hard, and wrote it down. For .22 Less affected by wind Leaves a MUCH bigger hole (tested by shooting my .22 HW97K and my brothers .177 TX200 into plasticine, the .22 hole was 10mm, the .177 was 5mm) Easier to load (pellet into breach and cocking) Less recoil Retains more energy For .177 Flatter trajectory (although its only in a 1" kill zone for roughly 10 yards (more like 8 thou
  4. There is one on Airgunbbs at the mo.
  5. Thats a very nice rifle mate, I like that a lot. And nice shooting.
  6. I notice in both the photos the people are wearing gloves, should I be? Ghillies, you have put me off eating rabbit now mate.
  7. Do you hunt with .177 Skot? Have you found you have more un-clean kills than .22 if so?
  8. What calibre and why, mainly for hunting rabbits. I'm having a tough time deciding. Thanks.
  9. Provisionally sold pending payment and collection.
  10. I should have taken a photo but didn't think to be honest, it was pretty late. The lungs were light pink in colour covered in white patches that were not raised.
  11. Decided to sell after all. Excellent condition HW97K in .22 cal Just been stripped, degreased, polished, and re-lubed with Maccari heavy tar. Shoots very well, very little recoil and extremely accurate. Comes with a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 IR scope, 2 piece mounts, gun slip, and about 450 AA fields. £280 posted RMSD. Thanks.
  12. Ahhh bollocks, I chucked them in the bin. What about white spots on the lungs? Thanks for the help.
  13. We went out tonight and managed to get 6 rabbits. 4 had white spots on the liver, and 1 had white spots on its lungs. I've had a read and cant find anything conclusive, any idea what it is?
  14. Download Chair Gun and watch a few tutorials on YT mate.
  15. The Tasco one is brilliant for the money. It finds the range really quickly, probably takes a second at the most. It only measures in metres but if you take it apart theres apparently a switch to change it to yards.
  16. It depends what calibre you're using, I wouldn't be without some kind of mill dot reticle with a .22.
  17. No longer for sale
  18. Well apparently you can buy another barrel from Air Arms for under £100, so if you decide you don't like the calibre you can always change it.
  19. Flow

    22nd.

I want one, hopefully someone will buy my 97K sometime this year so I can buy one. The only problem I'm having is deciding what caliber to go for
  20. Exactly what I though, I can't stand him at all.
  21. What caliber Jimmy? I think I'm getting a Pro Sport too Nick, with a walnut stock. I'm not 100% sure what calibre to go for yet though.
  22. HW97K does have an anti bear trap mate, its just not visible like the TX.
  23. I have a HW97K and my brother has a TX200 Mk3, I prefer the HW97K. He said if he were to buy another gun that's what he would get too. I tried the KT at the shop yesterday and personally thought is was horrible to hold. Being ambidextrous the grip didn't feel good at all, almost too straight (hold one and you will see what I mean) and instead of checkering it has some nasty cheap looking (to me anyway) stippling. The full length TX is quite barrel heavy (although the carbine isn't) I personally don't like the bear trap ratchet, it looks like a bit of an after thought, and the breach is
  24. I will also include roughly 100 pellets that I have left over (Air Arms Diablo Hunter, and JSB Exact) Edit: Just checked and there are nowhere near 100 pellets
