    It wasn't a great season this year ferreting wise, the numbers in the orchards were quite low, mainly because I gave it a caning in the summer with the rimfire. But never the less we still had a few good days out, its always a nice place to be.........................

    Just keeping the dogs fit through the summer so that come September they are in reasonable condition, I rather the dog catch small un's than big fat milky Doe's, and as you say when you put them in late eveing time and they are gone in the morning....................................

    I have been using a new method this season, taught to me by the Old man of the marsh (Inan), its very similar to the Vulcan death grip. It works very well but in the wrong hands could be lethal so will have to keep it to myself..........................

    The idea of a lurcher is to have the best of both worlds is it not?. A compromise. I dare say your Whippet won't work cover like my Whipplington and catch half the amount of rabbits my old fella as in his prime years, You wouldn't buy a beddy X for anything else than all round rabbiting so you have to be realistic, In my personal opinion a straight Whippet severley limits your rabbiting capabilities unless you run it with other dogs......................... the proof is in the pudding.

    Well a straight Beddy wont catch you many rabbits and a straight Whippet won't work the cover like a beddy....................................

    Got to be one if not the best looking whippets seen on thl to be honest he's only a 3/4.................

    I love Whippets and Whippet X's but find some Whippet owners to be emotional and over protective, you have to be realistic about their abilities. They may take other quarry but they can not compete with the bigger animals that take larger game regularly. But as rabbiting dogs, they are hard to beat in my opinion.......................

    Mines a 3/4 Whippet 1/4 Beddy, Glen to a Gutchcommon Nimrodel...........hard as nails dog but not for the faint hearted.

    The best part of working the dogs for me is when the shooting as finished, running the dogs through the cover strips......................
