Mistake On Ticket Variation
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Ya I think i set my mind on cz 452 american 16 inch barrel for the 22 . Maybe the same for the 17hmr just thinking maybe a longer barrel 20inch not sure if it makes to much difference in accuracy and noise. The longer barrels seem cheaper -
Iam in the devon&cornwall area and my variation as just came back with the wording .22rf.I sure i worded my form as a .22lr and .17hmr.

Mistake On Ticket Variation
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Well I called them they apologized and I returned it back first post. They can't understand why it was labeled hm2 or why the ammo wasent logged. -
Today my ticket came back with the 22 and 17hmr added, happy days. But the ammo I asked for 400- 22 and 200- 17hmr is not on the ticket. Theres no ammo listed. Also the 22 is listed with 22rf mod but the 17 hmr is listed with a hm2 mod ???.I will call them tomorrow just wandering if I will have to pay again for another variation.Got to start saving now . Ive always used air rifles and always ended up modifying them to improve them.Is it the same with rimfires or is there a gun that is reliable and efficient hunting rifle straight out of the box? Which I wont have to improve later. Iam looking

To Soon To Apply For Different Gun ?
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Ive waited a year for my ticket so i want to do things by the book, dont want to give any reason to lose it. Ive posted my ticket off wednesday with my request for a .22 lr and a 17hmr. So will wait for that to come back and see what conditions if any for those calibres, then take it from there. I cant read the exact wording on my ticket as its in the post, but the any lawful wording is for fac air i wouldnt use that on a fox so i needed advice on what calibre would be suitable for fox. -
To Soon To Apply For Different Gun ?
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Interesting info , my ticket states vermin ground game and any lawful quarry . As cedric say guidelines state hmr as a calbre for fox and my firearms dept say ok at close range . You would think these thing would a bit more clear . Basc did say they were hearing of injured foxes with smashed up ribs due to wrong calbre . But surely that's down to shot placement and range. -
To Soon To Apply For Different Gun ?
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
All sorted contacted basc. Best to leave the fox alone with the 17hmr. Was told in my situation shouldn't be a problem to get a hornet or similar for fox, he reccomended the hornet. But I shall wait because as of yet iam not specifically targeting fox. Thanks all -

To Soon To Apply For Different Gun ?

Ya maybe further down the line. The last permission I got did mention deer. Like I said to him probally be a while before I can get a centerfire. Original plan was fac air 17hmr and eventually put in for .243. Some of my ground i felt more suited for fac air but now I gain 300 acres elsewhere a .22 is needed. I would rather spend some time with the rimfires before putting in for a centrefire. -

Ya I would of preferred something written on my ticket. Now filling out forms for .22 and .17hmr, not sure the ammout of ammo to put down. What is a reasonable amout. -
To Soon To Apply For Different Gun ?
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Just got off the phone to firearms dept and the land is cleared for full bore. He as requested a copy of my permission slip for my file . The farmer ask me to take care of fox aswell . I asked then what minium calibre for fox . Something like a 22 hornet they said but if I had a 17hmr and it was close enough I could take the shot, but they wouldn't condition it for fox. So happy days , I don't plan to specifically target fox but good to know I can take one if he's in close range. -
I have just recieved my ticket (feb) for fac air . I have 600 acres of permission and at times wish I had something with a bit more range. Yesterday I stop to chat to my local farmer and have gained another 300 acres. He has also stated on the permission slip that he wants the foxes sorted.Thats 900 acres at moment thinking about sending in for .22lr and 17hmr with my signed permission slip. Or is it to soon? Also do I have to wait for comformation from feo that the land is clear for the fac air I have. The farmers son use to take care of things with his 17hmr on the land.
-
Ya that's what I thought so I locked it all away in the safe apart from stock and scope. took a long time to get on the fac ladder so don't want to risk losing it.
-
Might be a silly question but I am in the process of stripping and re sealing my fac air rifle. My gun is locked in the shed in bits. Does the barrel or all the parts need to be locked in the gun safe

Invited On Friends Permission - Advise Please ?
Adrian Prisk replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Interesting thread,my ticket says the same, so answered a few questions for me. So when the shearing season starts I will be gaining more permissions. I just need to send off permission to shoot letter. Will the fire arms dept send a letter back stating they have received my permission letter and that iam clear to go ? Considering that I only have a fac air most of farming land should suitable for me. -
I use a regulated t10 scorpion sub 12 at the moment and its bang on, fps variation over a fill in single figures with sorted pellets. So looking for regulated gun probably mk3 s10, or r10, regulated rapid.

Well its been nearly 12 months since i sent off my application for fac air,and today it has finally come, happy days. My journey begins.

18 Weeks And Still Waiting Zzzzzzzzzz
Adrian Prisk replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Ya I contacted them a few times. They only made contact with me once in December 2013. That was to say they were concerned about my boy who when he was about 11yrs was a bit of a nuisance, verbally abusive and destructive to property (our property only) so the police were called twice hopefully to show him the errors of his ways. Long story short he was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome placed on meds no more probs, he's now gone 15yrs. They wanted access to my sons medical records, I refused. Then I contacted basc for adviced they adviced me to refuse and emailed then on my behalf. The day af -

Adrian Prisk replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I sent my paper work in back in march, had safe and cabinant checked and interview in april and iam still waiting. I started at the bottom with a fac air. -
Just a follow up to original post. Does my cocker need to put on a bit more weight? Ive tried to put up a couple of picks (first time). Just that when the wife takes him on the school walk shes getting moaned at saying the dog is to thin. He eats more then is reccommended. He does get a fair bit of exercise. Managed to get 2 reasonable pictures side on and from above.

Hi my cocker spaniel is 9months old and weighs 13.4 kilos. The thing is he's been this weight for 5 weeks. He is being fed on jwbelloved , slightly more then is reccommended on the bag for his age/weight. Also he will have cubed chicken breast for treats/training. He stands about 16in high (measured from floor to top of shoulder while sat up, right or wrong ?). He has a waist can feel but not see his ribs. Its just that 3 quarters of him is perfect. His chest shoulders front legs are strong and muscled. But the last quarter his lower part of spine and hips stick out when sat. His rear legs loo

Drontal Plus / Stronghold

I need to use stronghold monthly because its for fleas and mites but it also does worms. So using stronghold 3 monthly might give problems with fleas. All sorted now thanks for replies -
Drontal Plus / Stronghold
Adrian Prisk replied to Adrian Prisk's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
The stronghold is to be used once a month. So even if I give him drontal 2 weeks after his stronghold he will be due another dose of sttonghold 2weeks after that. So tapeworm aside he would have 3 doses of wormer in 6 weeks . That seems a lot of drugs for him to handle. Because the stronghold will do worms (except tape) then 2 weeks latet the drontal will do the worms including tape and 2 weeks later he will be due a stronghold which will do the worms again.
