  1. Made from cross laminated American white oak and finished with a lovely hard wax oil which is dirt, scratch, water and UV resistant. Each one comes kitted out with double Theraband Gold hunting bands and a kangaroo leather pouch. Bargain at £19.99
  2. I wouldn't worry about it, out of every ten I make at least 1 has a defect that ends up on the fire. Last time I found my Titebond had somehow gone off which resulted in the laminates coming apart slightly. It's annoying but it's all part of the fun of working with wood... so they tell me.
  3. You can hunt with pretty much any catapult, so long as it has suitable elastic that's powerful enough for the ammo you are using. It all comes down to personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with in the hand. Personally I'm not a fan of the metal frames as I find them cold and uncomfortable, especially in winter time. I also don't like having something that will reflect light and spook my quarry. Most people these days tend to favour flat bands opposed to square tubing, but again it's down to personal preference
  4. I'm not sure such a graph exists Mick. You have to take into account the weight of the projectile and the speed it is travelling at. Steel will also probably travel faster than lead due to it having less air resistance. Everyone will have a slightly different draw distance, band and tube length and also the pouch material and it's size will play a factor into how fast the projectile will travel.
  5. I have 4 Classic Hunter Catapults for sale, they are cross laminated and made from American White Oak. They are all finished in a glossy hard wax oil and come supplied with double Theraband Gold bands with a premium Kangaroo leather pouch. They are £20 each, first come first served! PM me for payment details!
  6. Hey jim do you tie a knot on top of constrictor knot just to be on safe side? No mate, just tie your constrictor knot as tight as you can
  7. Use a constrictor knot mate, you will notice your pouch weight reduces significantly. Make sure you don't opt for waxed dental floss like some people do as it's not good.
  8. If you are having any problems with your registration let me know and I will have a look at it for you
  9. Kangaroo leather is often thought to be the best for catapult pouches, this is due to it being the strongest and lightest leather available. The lighter and smaller the pouch then the faster it can move. Having a light pouch also limits the chances of getting painful hand slaps after a shot has been released.
  10. Well there is no wrong way or right way to add oil to woods some woods soak more oils up .. True Oil is a sticky expensive waste of time and is more like a varnish ,, Danish oil works good too and tung oil,I've even french polished a catty ,, No one will ever agree on which is best ,, But you dont want it too shinny or slippy or you will lose grip ,, Some use lacquer spay over paint. ) atb mick Agreed! Tru Oil doesn't give a good enough protection, it just gives a shiny appearance. While oils like danish and tung oil are good because they penetrate the surface of the wood and soak into he
  11. It's all down to personal preference, if you find something comfortable and shoot well with it then stick with it. Personally I've tried shooting with some of those metal milbro style catapults that aren't cheap and I find them cold, uncomfortable and difficult to shoot with. If a design is well thought out and has a distinct advantage over other designs then I think it's worth paying that bit more for. For me it's down to comfort, ease of use and having something I feel confident with. With flat board cuts and naturals I don't think they are worth paying a grand sum for, unless they are
  12. Sorry to correct you again Rocket lol, but what people know as DubDub is actually a brand called Roylan Tubing. It comes in 5 varying degrees of resistance, the orange being the most popular for an easier draw for catapults. The green is a bit more powerful than the orange! Have a look here to see the different types of tubing available from Roylan: http://www.physio-med.com/Roylan-Tubing-30.4m.html Hope that helps a bit!
  13. Have a look on the slingshot forum it has been discussed there a few times pal, personally I haven't noticed any difference in band longevity using them.
  14. I've experimented with them but haven't noticed a difference to be honest, some people prefer them when using tubes mind.
  15. A few from my collection that I've never got round to using, they are all good to go apart from the pickle fork shooters which need sanding and finishing. Open to offers on them or would consider letting them all go together at the right price, I just can't be bothered listing them all on ebay. Postage is £5, PM me if you are interested in anything.
  16. The blue is a little harder pull than gold in resistance I've found, and it's not as fast. I'd use the red Asda stuff if I were to use any, it works well just doesn't last as long and doesn't smell as nice as gold. It's a lighter pull so you might want to make your cuts slightly wider. Amazon is the best place around at the moment like you say brassneck.
  17. If you need any help pal just give me a shout, check out www.slingshotforum.com for advice too plenty on there
