  4. why do you not want to go down the gundog route there the best at what your looking to do its a no brainer.
  5. buy a pointer proven over time for what you want plus a terrier along side a hawk could end in disaster no matter how well socailised there s always a chance the red mist could decend and then alls thats left is feathers imo
  6. cheers fat man i ll keep an eye out for her starting to hear about a few dogs being fancied as it gets nearer you traveling down yourself to it ?
  7. give your head a shake you havent a clue..........not in it for the money.....lol and you want to watch your words as stuff can mean a variety of things............ as for amount of digging , what is that to do with the price of these forks...............is it because he makes them on a sunday so there double the price lol i hope the man sells millions but i think there a rip off.......... i think its more to do with the quality of the materials used to make it i mean these are quality heavy duty job and at quid for something that will last a life time i dont think is to bad sure you d
  8. i ve seen the forks mentioned and to say there strong and well made is an under statement there dam near bomb proof i ve one sitting waiting to be colected this 4 months lol i ll get for it over holidays but couple of mates have them and swear by them say its as good as the pick for hard ground and can be used through out the entire dig as once you get bit of depth the pick becomes awkward to swing proper .
  9. what are you on yes russells tend to be mainly white but all the russells we had as teenagers had queen ann legs the straight fronted white lakeland lookalikes have only become common as the show fraternity like to win 50p rosettes some do work yes but the working russell i remember was built like a little tank good solid head and front with queen ann legs and they had more brains that most of the users on this site !
  10. 60 for a three day pass sounds good we usually pay at the gate each morning at 30 euro a pop but worth it in my opinion a great three days craic with drink and dogs a plenty and the buzz and atmosphere for the final run of the derby is worth the admission fee on its own
  11. jawn the best terriers are still to be found in uk and ireland i can assure you of that !
  12. listen a terrier was bred to work underground and thats the yard stick there measured by if they dont work to ground in my opinion there still terriers as thats what they look like but they are nt working terriers some terriers excell at ratting bushing general mooching but to call them working in same breath as an earth dog is a slight in justice to the dog that works his heart out in the most demanding condtions asked of any dog so sporting for the non earth dogs sounds fair to me they many excell and work hard ratting and bushing and please there owners which is main thing but to call them

  15. if straight up and polite to the land owners you d be suprised how much permission you d get but be carefull who you take with you as one idiot can spoil it for the rest
  16. i agree a working terrier goes to ground and does whats expected of it a terrier that dos nt go to ground but bushes rats etc should be classed as a sporting terrier imo
  17. theres the crux of the post now no messing there alcapone sharp and straight to the point best way !
  18. i couldnt agree less. there is as much shite produced from black/red / choc/ patts . as any other breed. if not more. the blacks had a really good name when i was younger. they had a name for early entering. this they did and in fine style. what wasnt noticed was the fact a large percentage walked off early you could see these one or two season wonders winning shows up and down the country . and getting used at stud to all and sundry . there are some very good blacks patts. and folk that keep and breed them for the right reasons. but the bulk of your beloved breed are bred for the big na
  19. there s three nice pic s of the troy dog on moochers site if you know were to look
  20. i dont think anyone was slagging kevin infact i think it was all tongue in cheek at mr goulds expense if you read it again. hats off to him for making the trip over and i found him to be a nice man with a good interest hope he makes a speedy recovery

  22. oh i remember alright jiimmys shop you remember my mate neal that was over he told the said yank to stop wasting his time giving big money to ken for pups as the culls from this side of the water would be plenty for the type of work he wanted them to do and that the digging lads would actually give them to him free of charge i think the yank near fell of his stool and mr gould choked on his pint       .from what i can gather the breeding of troy turbo nan etc was not talked about from mr gould even the lads that had them and worked them might not
  23. only person who knows that for sure is mr gould himself but be carefull as the old school breeders\dealers are fond of telling you what you want to hear especially when the pound note is in the equation but the dogs you mentioned were very good dogs and mr gould produced many good dogs and if everybody is honest put the black dog on the map along with a few other breeders but credit must also go to the digging lads who got these terriers and bred them among themselves to work and work only not caring for the pound as these small kennells of dogs all over the country is what has kept the black
  24. by sounds of things i dont think its the dogs fault ! if she s a house dog as you say then keep her in the house if you want her to go outside then get a secure kennell with a good warn box its hardly fooking rocket science!
