  1. it stands to reason that your taking a chance with peddlars number one money rules there world so they ll just tell you what you want to hear and number two with the amount of pups some off them churn out the bitches cant have been well tested in the field and some of the dogs used are that busy covering every bitch they can get there hands on its a wonder they even have time to eat
  2. not nessecarly he could of just had a high percentage of workers out of the one litter were as years ago he could of bred as good as dogs only that he may of only got one from each mating at end of day if you look at your dogs in the yard and you think they lack something then the harm has already been done previous if looking to breed and keep a high standard of dogs then you need to be totally honest with yourself no one else and keep sentiment out of it if they are nearly what your looking then dont make eception its still not up to the standard of what came before so its back and try again
  3. i totally agree with you . but each type you have mentioned are all working . i ment really with the bull x type working or not should i of put , or even staying till dug reagrdless of the way they work To answer your 1st question,no i think a good well bred staff has as much hunting drive as any terrier and secondly if the terrier you put the bull across is lacking gameness then why breed it in the 1st place.I have a 4 year old staffxpatt that has worked almost 3 seasons and has always stayed the distance till dug to.He is halfx and his way of working is not everybodys cup of tea but i g
  4. they may lack looks or lack a bit of size etc but they should never lack determination or desire to get the job done if they have them two qualitys reguardless of what style they use to get job done then they d get fed in my kennells weather they be pink and green with three legs or the best looking terrier that ever walked .in your post you said a terrier that lacks game over a staff i always thought men aded a touch of bull to give bone and a bit of size never to try and make up for lack of gameness in the terrier as if its become apparent it lacks gameness then it def aint breeding material
  5. i know a lad that sent his good bitch over to a nixon for a service around that time and he s a regular at the welsh game fair

  7. surely neal by asking the the lad you s got her back off he ll tell who he got it of and like wise the next man until the scumbag is exposed
  8. fair play wirral man from reading your posts i know you ve a fondness for the plummer but only as a worker which in my mind is the only way to keep them going forward the good old working terrier of all creeds thrived for years when all men were looking was an honest tyke to do a days work the terriers only came under pressure when people looked at them as fashion statements and money making ventures and over looked what there main purpose was and this goes for numerous working dogs its a disgrace imo but hopefully with a few men like yourself involved the proper plummers will come to the fore
  9. now then this bitch give s me the impression of being a terrier thats worth her keep absolute cracker but then i think her owner needs a bit of credit for actually working her proper id say a lot more plummers are capable only for there owners being happy with rosette s and pound notes for pups !well done again lad and i hope she has a nice healty litter with a few coming up to the standard she looks to be
  10. the place is alive with them one day last year on barely stubble we had a total of 142 birds for the day 19 were grey back crows rest was pigeon jackdaw and rook
  11. also found that the grey back crows really like these fresh cut fields id say nearly a third of what we shot over the 3 days were greys
  12. be sure there s no collie blood in make up of dog if your going to use ivomec it does nt agree with them and can be deadly not sure why but there you have it
  13. over the past week we ve had 3 days on newly cut silage fields and have averaged in around the 40 mark each day its just not as hectic as over barley stubble but it beats working
  14. i ve spoke to a few older terriermen that would of kept borders and they said that they were far from slow to enter and that a good few of them espically the dogs flew from the nest and were reckless of themselves but then again at that time they were bred to work not for pound notes like today and they must of been usefull dogs as they were used as outcrosses in many famous lines of red and blackdog and before the black dog took off most kennells of digging lads had border x lakelands that worked to a very high standard its not the borders fault its declined as a working terrier its the gree
  15. fine stamp of a dog i like him hopefully he works as good as he looks
  16. mosby experience is gained by fisrt having a great disire to get as good as you possibly can at your choosen sport be it dogs football racing car driver etc along the way your going to make mistakes the sign of a smart man is not to make same mistake twice if you spend enough time round your dogs you ll be suprised how much you ll learn from them without knowing i know lads that have kept dogs all there lives and i still dont class them as dog men they think feed them take them out there treated like farm animals you get out what you put in is my motto
  17. gilford armagh mudd and if so what the story with day permits etc on that river
  18. if a dog owner cant see the signs that tells him his dog aint just as spritly as he used to be then maybe keeping dogs is not for them proper dog men see there dogs everyday and know them like back of there hand so any day the dog is say off or not him usual self they are onto it straight away could be anytthing from a abcess in a tooth to a thorn in a pad or even a kidney infection spotted by the colour of the dogs urine it baffles me some off the questions people ask on here all i can say is god help some of the poor dogs
  19. the main prob i would see in it would be the peddlar writing up pedigree s to suit whats flavour of the month with the punters paper nener refused ink and a computer sreen does whats typed in a pedigree is only as honest as the man giving it out and the honest breeders in my opinion dont need a data base as the quality of there dogs speaks for itself which in turn is main reason they dont need to advertise as the genuine blokes will know the breeding anyway and prob be gifted a pup free if theres spare imo as for the H O F your spot on there waz ( bred senseless) with pups out of one litter co

  22. its good spot paul fear is no protection are you coming over with steve and sooty
  23. keeping two terriers of the same sex in same kennell is a no no and to be honest i thought it was a given to any one keeping terriers but harms done now scent .its a lesson hard earned but you learn from your mistakes and we ve all made them !
  24. who ever judges it this year cant be any worse than last years judge he never looked at half the dogs entered in the diff classes he just wanted it over an done quick so he could peddle his wares out the back of the van tho the terrier that won overall was justified won a few shows last year if i remember right .
