    my first black terrier was a bitch from nuttal-smooth coat bully looking bitch,but very small-started off like a future legend and had some tidy digs over her-bred her when she was 4.kept 2 pups back-about as much use as a chocolate fireguard-went to pet homes-after she had a litter she wouldnt stay anymore lost heart-i was gutted and gave her to old lady in village-now my dogs now are old gould/local worker to worker.i will only keep dogs now that i have personally seen work on both sides.i wont be sold a dream again!LOL.atb bobby

    in my experience all my terriers have self entered by 18months-but some are a bit slower-take him on a dig,let him listen/smell but keep him back-dont let him have a go in blockend after the other dogs done the work-(never liked giving any dog quarry thats been worked by another-false bravardo)despatch the quarry and let him have a rag-do this a couple times then take him,collar him up and let him go for it.try and make it as natural as you can-everyone s different in how they start them-this works for me-if you can get away with it-i leave skinned pelt hanging outside my runs,winds them right
