hi dave i was out last night also with night vision ,had two ,i also had two runners ,they didnt go far though more of an adrenalin run ,these were also feeding on a dead ewe ,certainly worth sitting over them and waiting you still using the trident ? . im getting on great with this mars 3 would recommend it to anyone . as for shooting vixens carrying, well its better shooting them and leaving new born cubs to ground .after all it is control the farms around here are loosing a few lambs and a dramatic increase in foxes found in lambing fields . carry on the good work . tikka t3.

hi dave we are out quite regular ,we usually gets one or two when we are out ,a lot of them paired up now around my way like i said earlier i got the mars 6 ,but im looking to get a pvs 14 monocul;ar soon ,as lifting the unit up to spot is quite heavy ,but i wouldnt part with it now though ,what i have noticed is that the foxes are seeing the ir when i switch it on ,no dowt about it ,the tube is that bright that i dont really need it unless its pitch dark .furthest ive shot one with it is 225 yrds ,very small target at that distance on 6 power ,but its very accurate ,i shot a few bunni

I did get that fox with the NV but to spot it I was using the lamp as I was driving. How you finding using your NV compared to ordinary lamping? I haven't been out that much recently with work, weather and stuff so I hoping to get crackin in Feb.... have you been gettin much yourslelf?
-
hi dave i take it this wasnt with the nv ? i was out last night and had one vixen ,we were looking over a few farms only seen 2 ,we actually saw more in the villages and on the sides of roads ,was out 3 weeks ago and we were tripping over them ,i guess it goes like that some times , i got that atn mars unit after ,very pleased with it. glad to see you got one though ,makes it worth while when gets the shot . you been using the nv unit much ? ps and your right mate that mod on the bbs is a right ------ . regards tikka t3

Out of all the ATN units the Mars is one of the better units, I prefer the Dedal units myself like the D480 / D760 /D740 I do a fair amount of work on NV units and the Dedal are one of the easiest to work on, I'm sure you will not be disappointed with the ATN mars gen III but do try to view before you buy as the housing is one thing but the image interferer tubes which is the most important item, but do vary a lot, most good units come with a spec sheet but don't always believe what you read, if possible view the unit and take a good night vision unit with you so you can compare it to the on

hi just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with these new atn mars scopes ? from what ive heard they are the dogs danglies. any info would be appreciated. regards t3

hi dave what tube does the trident you are using have .i know its gen 2 but which tube ? . whats the clear recognition range on reynard ? just some info in reply to your post . i went out yesterday evening just before dark and saw a dog fox but the ,,,,,,,, wouldnt stop for a shot but stayed a little longer and managed the vixen .then out with the lamp and i nailed a dog and vixen and my lamp man missed the third .theres a few about but weve thinned them out a bit .time to leave alone now i think and take a few bunnies with the hmr . regards tikka t3 -

Nightforce NXS OWNERS ONLY PLEASE!!!!
Tikka T3 replied to Deker's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
as previously stated ,they are the dogs danglies .i have the 15 to 56 and the 22 to 56 the 15 does struggle at the longer ranges go for the 22 to 56 i have the mlr reticle great for lamping i was in dj litts the other day looking at a few the smit and bender the optics were great but felt very poor quality compared to the nightforce ,the nightforce will take the knocks that come with use .you get what you pay for great scopes go for it t3 -
well if i was you stick with the .223 or 22.250 both cracking rounds .i had a 204 glad to see the back of it very unpredictable .not consistant and limited on components for reloading. 223 good choice and plenty of ammo you made the right move t3
-
ive just got my t3 lite stainless .223 1 in 12 twist ,using norma 40 grn balistic tips grouping is superb ,i use this ammo in my t3 varmint .222 great ammo .sighted the 223 in and at 100yds was hitting drawing pins that was holding paper on board ,had 2 foxes with it both one at 130 yds and 1 at 175yds ,very pleased so far and nice and light to carry around.looks like i was lucky i dont think i would of had the 1 in 8 i did ask for the 1 in 12.great guns. t3
