Bolt arrow bow whatever, it needs regulating. As a land owner not blowing my own trumpet before you jump on that bandwagon my point is purely this. People of a young age can buy weapons on line that can kill a human no trouble, yet the same person cannot buy a knife to gut what he or she kills off of the same site or sites. And at the end of the day whatever they are shooting or releasing will kill. And as far as a knife goes they can get one out of the kitchen but they won't find a Barnett out there I wouldn't have thought.

i think you will find it very hard to purchase a bow that fires a bolt as a bolt is fired by a prod this being attached to a crossbow a bow fires an arrow both very effective in the right hands mike i think if i was you i would quit while your ahead mate

I love my shooting I have a fourteen gun cabinet got allsorts, and your right it's an unusual comment from a shooting man. But I went out last night to hit a fox after my neighbours chickens with my 243 when I see a light flashing around. When I got to where they where on my land it was kids with a .22 carreer which sounded one hell of a lot more than what it should be. I was polite and they left. They bought it the dad turned it up just kids, don't get me wrong everyone starts somewhere but at least check they got land.

I never said it to get into a pissing contest and only thought that 16 was the age to buy a gun as that's how old I was when I bought mine. And admitidly a knife is easy to conceal yet again a knife won't go threw you at 500 meters!

Hey don't get me wrong guys my first gun was about£150 break barrel .22 hw 85k. I love shooting just think some things are wrong, I mean go on e bay and buy a hunting knife you can't. Yet go on there and buy yourself a compound bow capable of firing a bolt a click easy. Just strange all strange to me.

Ah right wrong on that then so I'll retract. But baffles me how you can buy them without permission or land or documentation, and you can wind them up easy. Don't get me wrong I love my airrifle almost as much as my rimfires, but to get my fac was a darn sight harder than buying a pcp. My friend bought one the other day knocking out 42ftp! So I turned it down adjusted a few things now he's legal but imagine if he was caught. I can't believe it's not more policed, do I sound an old twat haha!

I have worked with and hunted with airrifles for approximately 25 years, and infact can get them from 11 ftp up to 50 plus on something like the carreer. Now I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that how can my nephew of 16 by a weopon like that which will most certainly take a human life used correctly with no proof of land or permission to use it. Yet I asked him to go to my local gun shop and pick me up a decent buck knife with gutting hook and was told no as he couldn't serve a miner with such a thing, wtf kind of society do we live in?

Your spot on about the rounds not all being equal, I bought five different types and shot them all out to meters from 20. The only ones which would group inside let's say a pound coin ish kind of area where eley subs, the others went from bad to awful I couldn't believe it. The cci's threw my rifle where so bad I actually gave them to a friend of mine who loves them I'll try track down what you have suggested and see how I get on. Thanks again I thought these chatty sights needed burning but you befriend some cracking people and great advice, not even going to bother with hv I'll just move m

Thanks for all the advice, also nice to see how different people work never to old to learn... I only zeroed at twenty as I put new scopes on and had no clue where I was at with it. But I kinda like that setting 20-50 aim lower head hit just high of centre 50 cross hairs out to 70 top of head hit centre takes all the numbers and guessing out. Top middle or bottom nice and easy. Then 70-90 one mil dot on top I don't even bother beyond 90 meters realy I like a nice clean kill and haven't found anything accurate enough. Gonna stick with the eley subs I think.

The zeroing isn't really the problem, I zero at twenty meters which is also a zero at 50 believe it or not. My plan was to keep a few high velocities just incase of that little nosey bugger a bit further up the line ie the 100 plus. Then when I think about it how much can you ask from a rimfire? I have no doubt with some time and no wind you could zero a 100 and do pretty well. But then how the hell could you walk around with that and hit between 30 and let's say . I was also amazed at the difference in makes of rounds, some of the grouping at 60 was about the size of my palm all over the pl

I was thinking exactly what you have just said. From being being a 20mm drop to sort of 75 meters to a massive drop at 100 three and a half mil dots is a huge drop also the round tends to roll to the right totally inaccurate almost like they run out of fuel and slam the brakes on. At the end of the day I could just get off my ass and stalk 20 meters not a problem! I tried the hmr but found the .22 a lot quieter I love it,i have heard so much about high velocity but most of what you read and hear is complete crap. I'll stick to the subs I think cheers bud.

I have zeroed my 452 .22 at 20 yards and can hit a drawing pin at that range putting the cross hairs on it. Then out to 50 yards I'm 20 mm high so basically aim just above the jaw line for head shots, then 50 yards is cross hairs bang on again. 50 to 70 yards is then a 15 20 mm drop so I go top of head. 70 to is 1 mil dot to 90 two mil dots 100 with no wind is inaccurate and three and a half mil dots. Up to 90 yards I'll kill even small quarry like squirrels but past that and out to a 100 + I couldn't hit a cows ass with a shovel. My question is would high velocity eliminate the use of mil d
-
Your right high velocity are shite can't even get cci's threw my .22 without fear of snapping the bolt you need that much force and as for grouping well anything smaller than a barn door would wave at you. Funny how people vary how they shoot tho, I zero my cz452 .22 at 20 meters, then 30 40 50 meters is virtually cross hairs then 60 70 I'm 20 millimetres low so basically top of head or bottom I don't have stacks of points dots or measurements to remember. meters is two mill dots then 90 to 100 is ridiculas like 10 inch drop and a foot and inaccurate at 100.
-
Same here I zero at 60yds but much past 100 with subs is pushing it, dont know about high velosities though never used them there shite dont bother

I have numerous guns bust most of all love my cz452, as for csi ammunition forget it on this it's crap won't group can hardley get it threw the gun. I use eley subs zeroed at twenty yrds, then at 30 40 50 meters they are ten mil high at 60 70 meters 10 mil low two mil dots. If you want a hundred meters forget it it's a foot drop and inaccurate. As for my weirauch hmr 17 lovely but noisy one crack followed by a long walk or wait. o an if you want to hit rabbits in the head and find you can't past meters practice your stalking not your shooting. Cz452 Eley subs all the way for me.
