Just passed up on a springer/ patterdale. Might regret that at this rate ;-). Not sure i've got the energy for a pure spaniel?

Looking for any suggestions on a new dog. We have two cracking Collie/ Deerhound/ Greyhounds but it's become obvious they need a buddy. Run them on the Western Dales so some very steep/ harsh country and often a lot of cover. Both dogs are great but best suited to sight and a bit of clear distance, and animals we can't and shan't hunt. This could all change with a busher/ dog that could get in the thick of it. Just throwing it out there for suggestions? Beddy/ whippet? Pure Beddy? Patterdale? Spaniel? Hancock? Plummer? Anything else? Needs for a lot of mooching, good chunk of ferreting and a b

Tesco's frozen chicken portions are about the same price £3.50 for 2kg, so i'm sure you can get cheaper. Depends what's in the mince really?

How about rabbits? I know they use ferrets as pest control in Dusseldorf Parks.

Anyone any experience of hunting with lurchers in Germany? Is it legal or did Hitler mess that one up too?

Thanks mate. This was one of my fears. Will get it checked out.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has experience of Epilepsy in Lurchers? Pup is just over a year now and a few months ago developed a head shake. It happened quite frequently for the first week or so but is now much less often. It lasts a minute or so and he's completely with it when it happens and doesn't seem to affect him. Apart from that he's in good form, eats well and has a really good drive. Vet suggests it might be a really mild epilepsy and just to monitor it. Though he doesn't seem so sure. Any advice/ experience would be much appreciated. Cheers

I could catch 30- 40 a night on my permission but if I did it wouldn't last that long!

I've just got a new team of ferrets from last season. At present 1 hob and 3 jills. I've always used a hob that's had a vaesectomy in the past to keep the jills out of season. However our vet tell us they don't do it anymore and they'd all need implants at £81 each which will need to be done again in 1&1/2 years!! Is this just our vets!? I'm sure he's having a laugh. Any advice on best methods etc much appreciated.

Hi Charlie, Thanks for the response. I understand everyone's in the same boat but if you don't ask you don't get. I was spoilt a few years ago as I had the lay of the land in the area I lived. Now starting out again. How do I contact Rake!?

Thanks for the reply Stu. at the end of the day you guys have shot the deer so you must have a price in your head that's it's valued at!? It's your time, ammo etc? The last dealer we dealt with had a full deer delivered and I overheard the price at £135 which I think was a bit less than 45kg, which is about £3.50 a kilo. To be honest I don't know if this is average or a little low? Looking online some websites say a Roe Deer Carcass would sell for £35- £45 and Red Deer considerably more? So you tell me? I'm not expecting to get the animal at some stupid prices but I don't see why I should be p

We cook all the food by the way, not break it down and sell it on.

In reply to all above (i've only just seen the rest of this thread). We are a new business that's started up catering a lot of wild products. It's a simple operation consisting of Me and the Mrs. We are not game dealers and trying to earn and honest living doing what we enjoy. We are aware that in certain areas of the country there is an abundance of Deer and a some of it is going to waste. We want to produce a quality product at a reasonable price for our customers like it should be. Current suppliers of game ie Wholesalers and butchers don't allow us to do this and we are in a position to us

Funny you should say that cause they fight like a couple of giraffes when they're bored. Last time I measured them was a couple of weeks ago. Thank you. -
