1. Will do Si, that was the best sheltered area around the farm buildings. I was able to use one of the buildings for a couple of weeks but it is now full of feed. The wind is still blowing here so I might not bother getting out this afternoon. Smokey
2. Hey Elliott, the scope is bang on mate but I have started to notice the side parallax knob is becoming stiff and crunchy. I will be taking it back to the gun shop if it gets any worse but for now it ain't bothering me too much. I hope this bloody wind disappears I am wanting to get out for a bit later on. Smokey
3. Went out yesterday afternoon for a mooch about and missed two rabbits, school boy error. I had just fitted the Twink mod to the HW100 and not re-zeroed the scope So after a few pellets on paper to zero @ 30 meters I moved a bit further out to 40m and was quite happy with the results mainly due to the strong winds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHjA3W6IVao&list=HL1341146502&feature=mh_lolz Smokey
4. Once again a great video, I see that you are using the range finder to set your distances. I too did the same for some time but after measuring out a few different distances with a trundle wheel and seeing how far out they can be I now only measure out my zero's and mil dots with the wheel. Then in the field it is the judge of distance that becomes crucial. When I got back into air gunning I started to use yards (because everyone else was ) I work as a site manager and have been in the industry since leaving school so why on earth I decided to use a unit of measure that I am not familiar with
5. I use them in both my BSA R-10 in .22 and the HW100 in .177. Don't be put off by people telling you that most of the skirts are damaged, there is a video on youtube of a soft pellet leaving a barrel (JSB's are a soft pellet) you would be surprised at how much a pellet gets deformed when leaving the sharp end. I think this is why they are very good in a loads of different air rifles. Give them a go Smokey
6. well I have to say the head shot on the magpie was near on imposable and you must have eye's like a hawk to have spotted it in the first place. Great video, well done Smokey
7. Sound's like it all came good in the end, well done for stopping to think about what was happening, it is all too easy to let the red mist take over and just keep trying. That for me has been the bigest challange whilst shooting with NV gear, It is very hard to gauge the distance. On the railway permission I have fixed some reflectors to the fence at 30m intervals which helps a lot. Smokey
8. Hello there and welcome, I am sure you will find loads of hint's and info on here. It is a great forum Smokey
9. Wow, looks very nice Darryl. Is this one of the Stocks from those blokes in Sheffield ? Smokey
10. Great video and it has to be said It is hard to sneek up on quarry on your own, twice as hard with a camera man next to you. Well done top stuff Smokey
11. Your not wrong, it has taken me eight hours to sand down that BSA stock after that it is just waiting for the oil to cure. I would not bother going down to 600 sand paper as the wire wools are around the same grade, they say to use 400 grit in between oil coats and I found that to be too abrasive, so just stick with super fine wire wool. This guys video's are very helpful, you will find the other parts on the right hand menu Smokey
12. I am nearly finished on a friends BSA 308 stock, it has similar checkering to yours. I just masked the area off and sanded toward it. Then when applying the stain I removed the masking tape, this gives a good indication of the amount of stain needed. If your using Tru-Oil to finish the stock don't worry about going over the checkering I have just put ten coats on and there is still ample grip there. I started off with 120 grit and worked down to 320, apply white spirit between sanding and dry it off with a hair dryer. This will help to lift the small fibers and make them curl so you can sand t
13. that dont sound too good, never had any trouble with mine (fingers crossed) have a look on the Weihrauch Owners site or ask the question there mate. Smokey
14. Good stuff Paul, well worth the wait then. Your new HW looks the bizz Smokey
15. My jack pyke balaclava realy gets on my nerves whilst waiting for rabbits to make an aperance.I have a boonie that I will be sewing some netting onto and a few leaves, used them in the outback with fly screens on and they are deffo more comfortable than the balaclavas. Smokey
16. Great footage, just watching all the rats had me scratching my ankles lol Smokey
17. The sanding down is the hard bit, just make sure you are happy with it before moving onto staining. I think I should have put a second coat of stain on it to keep the stock darker. Dont forget to fire some photos up as you do it and good luck Smokey
18. I am not too sure, so may have to mask it off again and spray with a matt black paint. Unless anyone has a suggestion ? Smokey
19. I used a black marker on the grip, will need to seal it somehow but dont want it to be a gloss finish. Any ideas welcome? Smokey
