What a great way of putting it Smokey

Sounds like you need to get her steady to game, try and book a session in a rabbit pen with a trainer. Reel her in a bit in an environment were you can get out after her if she chases. Smokey

Cockers don't do well on there own but if you have two dogs to keep it company, it should be fine. I take my two out together in the morning for a ten minute walk, they run around the garden for twenty mins whilst I get ready for work. I will train them individually each evening for ten to twenty mins each walk there and back. You would be giving them more than enough exercise and a good long walk at the weekend should keep a Cocker more than happy. Smokey

Getting a Springer to hunt, long story.
Smokey 1 replied to kermitpwee's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
Sounds like he is lacking a bit of confidence, so make every training session fun. Build his confidence a little at a time, if you can go out and plant some dummies without him seeing them and then hunt the ground with him. Loads of praise when he gets it right if you can get hold of some pigeons and dizzy them up for him let him chase them and enjoy it. Once he realizes that there could well be something in that bit of cover he should start to hunt a bit further away if he get's too far just stop and wait for him to cover the ground do not try and keep up with him, remember you are controllin -
Thanks boys In complete contrast, got back early from work headed to the trout lake to see if anything was about. Got drenched to the bone, never saw a thing and managed to snap one of the rifle's scope flip up covers Oh well there is alwaysy tomorrow Smokey

Thanks guy's, yeah just one of them days. Everything clicks and for some reason or another you just end up lucky. I have a tenner on the euro millions tonight Marty, there is only half a video as the blinking camera tried to re focus after the first pigeon fell from the roof. Smokey

Just got back from one of my perms with a big smile on my face. After the terrible weather we have been getting of late, whilst driving back from work there was a tail back on the M62. I wound down the window for some fresh air, the sun was shinning and hardly any breeze. Right then time to shift a few more bunnies I thought. Back to the pad, changed and back out in no time. I arrived at the farm, wheeled out 25m to 50m with the trundle wheel and used some pigeon decoys as markers every 5m. Layed up prone adjusted the zero and fired off a good few shots at each range. Well happy with the p

5.3 foot pounds at 75 yards is the retained energy. Plenty to kill a rabbit. 2.8 is at 140 yards Davy . funny that,i knew i would get it wrong!!! Good stuff the pellet placement has done the deed. Great shot I have just watched it again, looks like the pellet just cracked open the top of the rabbits skull. Smokey

Hope they were all head shots Malc Smokey

Thank you Stevo,I have been back out this evening to re zero and the parallax on the scope has had one crunch too many so it will be heading back to the shop. The zero was a little off but after some tweakingg at 30 meters I was putting some very tight groups together. 35m and 40m where loads better without the wind issues and the I tried 50m altered the parallax and the bloody thing stuck. I use a NS200 and it is spot on. The shooting position takes a bit of getting used to but I would get on ebay and buy one of the smaller battries, the one wich come with it weighs a lot and some filters for the screen. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2648 Thats the ebay links to the bits I added Smokey
