Still no answer? Has anyone got one that can do time underground. No shame in a bushing dog and they are useful and sometimes more useful than a hard Patterdale. Has any of ye got one that would stay 6 or 8 hours below. I've a glen of imaal patterdale cross that would only do half an hour but she bushes good and I shot loads of foxes with her and far more more than a hard dog could dig underground than with her hunting cover. I don't doubt they can bush. The best busher I ever seen was a springer with a Labrador that was close second but had a better nose but wasn't as quick as the spaniel. I

There is wrong ones in every walk in life. I wouldn't think it's a fair comment to say most are bad eggs. Most of the top men that became famous in U.K. Or Ireland were selling dogs for big money and treated like kings. Famous names included but I've met lads in that club that would gift you a dog when they didn't have to and be at the end of a phone if you needed. Are you talking committee members or general members. I'm not a member anymore but have to call it as it is and say they are ok. What part of the country are you from? PM if you want. I've no connection anymore with club so it don'

Yeah deffinetly serious bit of kit as long as you tell the missus it only cost 100quid.? I paid €120 for lamp and 250 sterling for battery which was about €300 Euro with exchange rate at the time. Bought the PLR for €60 so it was 7 times the price for kit at €420. Not many rabbits here so I did need it for the foxes. They are well lamp shy so getting enough runs for dog isn't easy and they didn't sit for PLR 500. Hardest thing was keeping him fit if only running fox. Sad day when there is more foxes than rabbits about.

The reports sound good compared to the slating they got years ago. They sound like a nice busy hunting type but would they stay to ground like a good patterdale. I'd prefer if they didn't stay if bushing loose. Many a watery dog got me home in time for Sunday dinner when they didn't stay.?. My Uncle and my grand uncle had bushing Russell's decades back before they knew what trackers were or could afford them. They hated them types as they would stay down 2 or 3 days without been able to locate them when deep. I wish I had them now and stick a collar on them. The problem was when running them

Handy little lamp that's cheap and worth it for a handy shine but i find it misses out on rabbit squatters eyes in medium grass with the white light. I prefer the deben tracer 170 with dimmer especially for shy foxes. It benifets the dog too when you don't let him see until the last second. Big dopey wheaten cross doing somersaults if he sees them early ? Expensive kit though with 22amp tracer battery but more chance of a catch.

If the IWTF wasn't formed at the time and campaigned hard then we most likely would be banned now. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes that non members don't see. Look at the state of the greyhound industry here at the moment. The media can show things in a bad light and public opinion follows. It's no harm having a group campaigning and there for support with a set of guidelines on good practice for a necessary form of humane pest control. Nobody is forced to join. Even having the advice of experience from the older lads involved about wormers, vetinary advice, quality food , kennel design

Anyone I met in it were decent lads. Don't tar everyone with the same brush. Its hard to check out everyone's background but in general they are good bunch of lads. They do a lot to keep terrier work legal here.If somebody was known for certain to be a dog thief then membership would be revoked. Paying €10 a year doesn't break the bank either to join. It could be the difference in keeping legal terrierwork. The NARGC was ready to throw us under the bus last time to save gameshooting only for a change of government. Any support is better than none. Like most clubs everyone won't agree all the ti

Can you back that up. Explain yourself. I was a member but not now . I didn't meet any dog thieves when I was there. I parted ways with a few of them but there wasn't any dog thieves when I was there to be fair .

Worst part about it is the lads doing the work get the stick. I used to be chairman in my local gun club. I got nothing only abuse from the lads that didn't carry their weight. All lads are plenty willing to be critical but won't pull their weight. Its a thankless job running any club.
-
It should work if lads stick together. Egos is the only thing stopping it.Its a shame that you don't need antis when terrier men can't agree themselves. My dog is better than yours ruins it for everyone .
-
I would disagree. 20 years ago any lads I knew doubled up dogs. With the bellman an flint single handed digging dogs became the normal. Some of those old dogs were watery as fcuk.Every old dude seems to think things we're better years ago. All I see from them is contrary old b*****ds that can't dig like a young lad but have an opinion about how it should be done.? You can't beat youth kicking the end of a graft.Im only 38 and I can't even dig like I could 5 year ago. You must be a lot older.Thats not saying you don't have more knowledge. It just means you can't dig like you used to. There is

the falconry experience; is it possible to train a fox to hunt
jiggy replied to golddigger's topic in Falconry
I reared a fox cub. He was more like a cat than a dog, I still liked him because he was a stubborn Cnut like myself. If you tried to get the little Cnut to do anything he would smartly tell you to fcuk off. He was right too why should he catch grub then give it to me. Only a lurcher could be that stupid . -
That's an honest opinion by him and FairPlay to him. The scary part is the guys saying they don't take and ignoring the side effects. Ego will kill quickest.
-
I can see your point but is it worth been the biggest guy in the bar
-
Huge appetite myself. I've been known to eat 4 bags of chips a half pounder and a burger. Love my grub.
-
Your probably right but if you give them free run then what do you end up with. Look at all the dead wrestlers that were trying to compete. You can pack on shoulders and biceps but your heart stays the same. Burst that bubble and 6 foot 5inch and 20 stone won't save you.
-
Your on the other thread tomo for weight loss. Does a steroid cycle not put more meat on you. I'm not criticising just interested to hear.
-
I've a grand little bushing patterdale. She jumps heather like a kangaroo and leaves nothing behind. Only thing is she has fought every dog she was paired with. I wouldn't mind only she never won once. Great little dog in a one dog pack.

If I lived a dangerous lifestyle and thought my life was at risk then I'd be pouring that shit into my cornflakes to give me an edge.
-
Nice straight answer buddy. Nothing to hide.

People who take them get very offensive when asked about as if they didn't need them. There is certainly a little bit of a guilt trip there or they wouldn't give a fcuk when asked. I can see someone like a nightclub bouncer benifet from that extra bit of power or a boxer that is struggling to get by becoming a multi millionaire. Just for looks alone and you aren't comfortable in your own skin and have other issues. Was it lance armstrong that wasn't in the top 100 before juice. The worse thing about that ego prick was he blackened every one of his team mates when they were caught and told lies
-
It says a lot when the big lump is ashamed to admit to it. If they are the crowning glory then why hide the fact that you couldn't get there on your own steam.
-
Anybody that takes them outside of winning in sports has an inferior complex. If you are taking them for looks then you are lazy from the outset in training. Either train harder or stop looking in the mirror. Most of the lads I know that are on them are fond of waiting outside pubs to beat up young fellas because it tickles their ego. If you are confident in yourself then you wouldn't risk your health to make yourself feel better.
-
You are lacking somewhere else if you need them for confidence. All the big guys use them because the workouts aren't showing the gains when they get older.
