got one mate, this needed stitches, its across the knee itself, i dont think staples would have done the neccessary.
-
i think he has still got your number, i'll let him know. often think about poppin down the whips but he works most saturdays the greedy barsteward. well mine is 23/24 and i think his will be at least that or bigger and heavier set (with a crackin coat), only time will tell, she looks like she needs to stretch out some! atb

so i should buy her a barbour . so are you saying all lurchers have the same thin skin? i thought that some would have a heavier thicker skin. i know coat is first defence and she has a thin coat which certainly doesnt help. she needs to be more careful!!!! anywhere else and i coulda fixed her up but as it was opening up when she sat or lay down had to be a vets job. cheers yes charts he did, lovely bitch. 6months atm shy when she's approached but friendly when she approaches you. she's around 22tts he's a bit worried she wont make the size he wants but i would say she will, she still has

which crosses have thicker skin? mine has just opened her knee up, at the vets gettin stitched up as i type..... expensive rabbit! i would imagine thicker skin adds weight to a dog and therefore would be a slower animal? am i right in this assumption? mine is 14months old and quite a finely built bitch, am i going to be having this for the next 10years?? had her out with the ferret, bolted a few and she come back afterwards with her knee opened up. dont think this was a wire injury more likely bramble or sharp stick as we were in woods. other than her skin she is sound fast enough for what i d

Once dug to my mates old hob, had eaten the nape of this rabbit, poor f****r was still alive could see its spine and all the sinews only one iv eva felt sorry for.

good to hear i left it in the warren. i had my jill and her two young out gettin some practice in. all three were in a small sett when it ran in there, i quickly got the two young out as didnt know what might happen. the jill would not come out, the stoat was bolted the dog just missed it and straight back in, the jill showed her face then and was straight back in after it, about 2 mins later it hole hopped and went down under some old corrugate at which point i lifted the jill. i think it could have gone on forever hole hopping.

good read up mate, was the dog ok? feckin barbed wire . i might have posted this a little while back but i had a stoat chase a young rabbit into a warren i was ferreting. i say in but actually me dog nabbed first the stoat, got bit n dropped it and went for the rabbit instead. my jill bolted the stoat twice from the warren before i got her out.

oh aye just to add chasing the dog is there main entertainment, they nick her bones and hide them where she cant get them. she gets jealous of them and collects all her toys up in one place......saves me a job.

i use a big heavy dogs water bowl, only prob i find is my young jill sticks her head in the kibble and flicks it about, always big spongy bits in the water. they much prefer drinking out of a bowl and they actually like to dunk there faces right in sometimes. the bottle is purely there as a reserve and never gets touched. mine have been coming in the house for an hour or so each day because of the dark nights i dont get a chance to have them outside by the time iv walked the dogs and had me tea n that. they go wild for 45mins then have a kip on my lass while she watches hollyoaks.... i swear m

at what age would it be too late to breed from my bitch?
broonball replied to day worker's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
What about breeding younger, then getting spayed? I know that a young bitch can't have proved herself properly but when they are in season its time wasted, worrying, and a pain in the arse. if you had her lined young you could have her spayed and lessen the risk of problems to health or birthing problems? Just a thought. Cheers -
Wee look at BRI's litter then a wander with a couple of dogs.

i bought a spray from the pet warehouse for about a fiver. does fleas n mites in smaller hutch kept animals. sold for rabbits, guinea pigs etc but worked a treat on the ferrets.

mine retrieves once every 10 rabbits, i didnt do a lot of retrieving work when she was a pup so my fault. if she catches she will leave it and come back but wont retrieve. yesterday we got some ferreting and the first one hit the net i killed it and laid it down. after a couple of hole hoppers she stole my rabbit and went into the field with it. i called her back and she came leaving the rabbit.... i sent her back for it and straight away she went, picked it up and brought it back to my hand. im really struggling to to harness this because if i ask her to bring her catch to me she wont, if im

had a few yesterday in those nets bob, very happy wi them. had an encounter with a stoat aswel. my kits were bolting rabbits too . the nettles are still up mind, some setts i was just running them through as i had no gloves and didnt want to make a racket. the albino jill kit bolted 3 on her maiden voyage down. the hob bolted 5/6 but in the setts i hadnt netted, he was also hunting in piles of rocks i know the hide in and bolted 2 for the dog. the runt is shy to go down and only when i had them all down would she play ball. give it a few weeks and i'll be hitting the place properly. nets

was ferreting yesterday to get the kits up n running. had a stoat chase a young rabbit towards us dog had a quick go at the stoat, then opted to take the rabbit instead. the stoat went into the sett i was doin, i got the kits out but the mother was still down. after 5mins out popped the stoat, saw the dog and down another hole. the jill had been on it as she popped out straight behind it. bolted it once more hole to hole and brought the jill out. the dog didnt wana leave the set when we moved on. this was in exactly the same place we took a rabbit off a stoat in my previous post. i dont t
