  5. really work on the retrieve, recall and heel. i let my pup pull a rabbit outa hole wi the ferret at 5 month and iv regretted it ever since. just think in a month or two there will be rakes of young bunnys about and you'll have all summer for your pup to learn before next season. its hard to hold back with the first dog i know but i wouldnt make the same mistake again. atb

  11. I can't bob didn't stay in touch wi the lad I got her off. She's wormed mate, she is beefing up a bit I felt her last night and she was solid. It might just be the whip/sal in her? I'm feeding her more thasn I was atm anyway to see how she does. How's the ferreting goin mate? Iv had positive feedback on the kits all have been working well. Had ova 50 rabs off one permission wi them 3 visits. Cheers john
  12. Should I be feeding my bitch more? There is no fat on her, she gets a good daily mooch, ferreting on sundays and maybe a nights lamping as and when conditions are right. What I'm really asking is should I be feeding her as much as possible until she puts some weight on, then level off. She isn't underweight or anything, she looks spot on I'm just thinking to get muscle and build her up, iv fed her by eye since a pup once I got a rough idea of amounts.iv recently started feeding her on dog mince from butchers aswel as dr johns gold and she's looking good on it. I can't put pictures up (its beyo

  14. Baw do you really, iv just wasted half me bait time reading this thread... Cheers
  15. Had a good few up here, been a good learning curve for the kits I bred last summer. Really getting there teeth into it, also the pup has been marking perfect. Couldn't be happier with our first proper season, apart from the pups injury a few weeks back its been decent enough. Cheers
  16. Mine will go down like that then pull herself along wi front legs when she wants to play, catching flies as she does it!
  17. I'm prettty sure it was 20/25 quid for 2 jills jabbed. Can't remember how much operations were. I was ringing on behalf of a friend. My then recently aquired jill was pregnant already. I would recomend ringing around lots of vets, some places I remember were more than double the price for ops. Cheers
  18. My pup knows the wait command from walking. I use the same command round the warren and she has clicked with it, still edges forward. If I need to be silent when ferreting I pretend to pick up some soil and chuck it at her, that is the most effective way I have found.and she immediately backs off. Patience is also key. The first rabbit she ever caught she pulled out of a hole. Biggest mistake I made, she was too young. We live and learn. Cheers
  19. Andy that's the 1. Was genuine and helpful, I rang him about a vasect hob and asked about jill jabs. He rang me 10mins later unexpectedly and told me about cestria. Both are nice people I hav heard, never met face to face.
  20. Yeah he is just a young un. I might have the jills jabbed at same time this year if he won't be able to do the duties. Hadn't thought of that actually! Cheers
  21. Cestria vets at chester le street was the cheapest for jill jabs last year, of about ten we rang. The lad at ferret rescue found this out for me. I'm looking to get a hob vasectomised in the spring. Let me know what you find out. Cheers
