  1. The site got hacked the other day when ever you tried to click a link it diverted to some nazi government site then the next day this site was off line I think you will find this has some thing to do with it.
  2. I have 2 males 1 female that are all in there 7th or 8th year and still working well along with 3 male that are in the 3rd I would say the old boys work well and have learnt the ropes in fact 2 of them are great put them down once they have cleared the warren they go back to the box and gets in by its self then we go to the next one and they work again and come back out and in to the box. but agree 3rd 4th year they are in there prime as they work that bit faster.
  3. I so glad I read this topic I never new ferrets could not get worms I agree they look a little on the scruffy side due to getting there summer coat and mine may come down in weight a little nothing much though as I said before I had one in 20 years that lost lots of weight and was unwell I feed it egg and salted water which seemed to do the trick I agree it would be unlucky for both to get a tumor but then what about colds flu and I think someone said there lots of distemper but I dont know what the symptoms are for this I not saying his is what is wrong with these ferrets but would like to kn
  4. Mine have never done this in the summer they may store a little but they dont seem to get that skinny and they have all there tackle to I got 8 hobs at the moment and over 20 years never noticed it either not saying you wrong either maybe I do some thing different I will have to have a closer look at mine and see if it happening to mine I have noticed there hair is finer making them look thinner but there weight stays around 4lb.
  5. I believe they get worms like every thing else but they would eat not store I had a hob do this to me a few years ago I feed it raw egg and put a little salt in the water and gave this through a pro-pit but any thing will do as long as you get it to eat after about 5 days it started to feed again. I would say take it to the vets to get them checked out as it is something in both as with mine the other were fine.
  6. if you want to find a club speak with one of your local gun shops they would be able to point you in the right direction for a local air rifle club I would say join a field target one as they use animal targets at different ranges which would really help with hunting if you have no experience of stalking get out with a camera and take lots of pics as close as you can with a air rifle you need to be able to get within 30, 45 yards of your quarry this way you can practise your skills on public foot paths or on your local fields no need to get permission from land owners. You will be surprised h
  7. how much hunting or shooting have you done
  8. I have pm you my number give me a ring and we can sort some thing out
  9. i will pm you my number your more then welcome to come along i just outside norwich
  10. mally it not a science just in general although it would be interesting to no how long that red had hung for and its temp as this is what makes it taste the only other things would be if it was in rut that always makes it taste stronger, the other one is if the deer have been stressed before being shot a dog walker or even the hunter if they run in flight this will taint the meat. I like liver to but i would rather eat muntjac that liver dish sounds nice though.
  11. i can remember seeing adds in air gunner they not to badly priced.
  12. I know you dont have any muntjac in ireland have people coming here to shot them its a shame in a way as it taste so good if i have any spare at some point like a hunch I can send you some just pay the postage.
  13. you say you hate liver looking at your favourite venison you agree with what i put as you like the 2 species I said have the least liver over tones. I not back tracking in what i said it just liver is the closes taste i know of to describe the over tone
  14. if you have never eaten red with a game taste with a liver over tone it has not been hung for long enough, it has been hung for required time but at a to cold attemp or it farmed lol or your taste buds are shot. Most people eat red in a restaurants so it has probably come from farm and they dont hang them for to long 3 days at a push as most peoples taste buds can not handle the strong tastes but thanks for the comments. If you never eaten muntjac please try it it is the best meat out there.
  15. ok here is a taste guide to the deer in britian the taste is also effected buy how long it is hung for I will start with the red/sika if hung for about 10 days about 4 degrees not over 5 will give a fairly strong game taste with quite a livery over tone the more it is hung the stronger the less it is hung the more it will taste like beef but still with a strong game over tone. Fallow has a mild/strong game taste still a little on the livery side. Roe has a mild game taste but is starting to taste more sweet then liver. I would not hang it for more then 5 days as you then start to get a str
  16. I had one I lost in the field could not dig it out left trap and nothing it was spotted a month later living in a chicken shed the bloke did not mind as it was taking the rats and rabbits out and leaving the chickens alone so i left it there he feed it as well it stayed there for another 2 months and came home and got into the ferret run the girls were in season the ferret had travelled from where i lost it just over a mile over 3 month in total and about 1/2 mile from where it was living in the chicken shed. It is now one of my best working hobs. I live in a rural area and most of the land I
  17. I had this on more then one occasion as one of my old dogs use to open them how dont no but I use to get them back quite quickly. I would try the above as well. I dont know what environment you live but I have found in the country side they dont go to far to start with and are normally easer to find in the day time look at your local fields for any rabbits setting out on the edges of hedge rows that would not normally be out I not talking 1 or 2 more like 5 or 6 when you approach they will normally run down the hedge a bit more instead of going in to it if you see this there is a good chance

  19. good to hear. I had some thing like this only a month ago accused of shooting on someone else's land police turned up and tried to get me to apologise to the lady for shooting on her field which I would not do as this is admitting a offence then they tried to get me to apologise for walking on her land with a gun dont think so told them where I was shooting then the farmer gamekeeper turned up and told the police I not been shooting on there land either as they have been in that wood then the owner turned up on the land I was shooting on and it became very clear the complainy and her dont get
  20. if anyone interest I am looking at doing these quick set nets 100 yards 6 z 100% bagging including bag for £120 on 1meter fibre glass poles the mesh is what I use and had no probs with it yet even had a male wild cat in the net not one hole it took about 40mins to get it out to if you salvage line top and bottom it will be £135 pm if interested
  21. if you still need help to convert to a quick set pm me
  22. just read this if you want any more I can do a 100 yard net 6z 100% bagging for £75 not including postage if you interested salvage is 1.5mm braided top and bottom.
  23. getting the bagging is easy to do. this is how i done mine threaded the lines top and bottom tie to a stick pull the net out tight and measure if it got 100% bagging it will be 200 yards long, what ever it is over a 100 yards is your bagging so if 150 yards you have 50% bagging. now decide what the gap is between your poles is going to be I do mine at 9 yards but people go down to 5 yards or any where in between I will say 9 yards so measure 9 yards down the net and put a pole in the ground if the net 100% bagging measure another 9 yards and pull this back to the pole you just put in the grou
